We recently had family down from the sunny coast and we had arranged short notice to meet for lunch, only problem was it was Good Friday 🙏. So after googling and working out what our options were and what was opened, then ringing to find if they had vacancies to fit a table of 5 in last minute. We settled on The Broadbeach Tavern, Dave and I have been here a few times for drinks and ended up there one night after The Blues Festival and it was packed solid, great band on and we had the best time .. but that's another story...
We arrived on time for our booking 🙌 and were taken in to our table straight away. Of course we wanted to go straight to the bar to order a round of beers so we could catch up quickly before we ordered but being Good Friday, and being told the rules are we can drink for one hour before our meal and one hour after and we had to order our meals first and be issued with a wrist band before we could get that beer.( not their rules just the rules throughout Qld on Good Friday 🤔)
So the boys lined up, whilst I entertained the kids. Then before long we had our drinks and got to sit and relax. Unfortunately it wasn't long before the kids were starting to say the inevitable "I'm hungry" to which we replied it won't be long and tried to distract them. But after every 15 mins we were reminded of their starvation and even as adults after an hour of waiting we too were hungry.
Eventually our food came out all at once and exactly as ordered and most importantly it was delicious. The staff were lovely and before long we had finished and were all in a food coma drinking our next round of drinks. So yes the wait was longer then we are used too but it was Good Friday and with that in mind that maybe they just didn't schedule enough cooks in the kitchen we loved the rest of our experience and we...
Read moreChange your manager or change his attitude!! Food is great and have had the same experience with the same manager twice. Visiting from Brisbane and for magic millions sales. Went there for a beer, bets and a meal on Saturday. Place was pretty full by noon and asked for races to be turned up and was told not until the first local race?? Ok I'll play along with that so along comes first local race still no volume despite several people around us also asking. Basically 80% of the pub was there for the races. By 1.30 the place was jumping and everyone there was there for the races. Also asked for some screens to be changed 1 from soccer which nobody was watching and the other from internal marketing. Nope can't do that. A table of older obviously cashed up gents from Melbourne that jagged a table said they had asked for a week to have the race volume turned up...nope! When the volume was eventually turned up it was only in a small part of pub so still couldn't hear. Went up to bar to ask if the other speakers could be turned up..nope! You are in a service industry guys and you need to give your room what they want. Same happened to a group of 8 of us with races and AFL last year. Asked for a Carlton v Essendon game on big screen instead of ladies American basketball. Nope can't do that and there were a lot of AFL people in the bar that day. Will never give you another cent of our hard earned despite your food...
Read moreLunch on a Sunday, a walk on the beach and a lunch at the Broadbeach Tavern. Four of us in total. Nice general feel, open layout and although there was a slight smell of cleaning product that is way better than pub smell of cigarettes, spilled grog and despair. The layout is good with plenty of room and it was light and airy. We ordered ; a corn and zucchini fritter burger with large fries; very nice. Was not sure it would work but the sauce brought it all together and I was impressed. Chips were hot and fresh. The pumpkin salad; the salad bit was okay although the tinned beetroot was tasteless and the pumpkin was boiled and flavourless. Probably the worst salad ever eaten. Thai beef salad; Overall it was quite nice but the steak was over cooked, dry and tough The Caesar salad; went down a treat. Nice touch with the oozing boiled egg left on top to cut into as you started. Nice. And too much salt used in preparation. We were all gagging for water after eating. Helped with the beautiful beer. So nice to have a decent pint on the menu. Personally, I think pub menus should be approached with the attitude of what can be mucked up the least. Steak is always going to be an issue as it needs to be cooked perfectly and lets face it it is expensive. So if the meal is not expensive then the steak will be rubbish. Table staff were efficient but not effusive. A great spot and so close...
