Read moreThis surf club is very much the locals eat out and pub. Travellers always welcome to all. There are effectively 3 parts to the surf club.
The crabpot which is a great bar and we love our kind local staff there. They have a happy hour from 5pm for an hour where drinks are a bit cheaper. You can get a great breaky here that is made by the restaurant above. It is more expensive than the takeaway next door but it is more formal on plates with cutlery. (Cheat is you can bring your from takeaway here from next door). They make great coffee. Alcohol served from 10am. Can get pretty full and loud at night with chatter. Is a sports bar with TV and betting, but this is at the back. Music on some weekends. Can get bar food as well which again comes from the upstairs restaurant. Shoes, T-shirt, and shorts type of bar.
The surf club takeaway. You can sit and eat here, it's just food is served on sturdy carboard trays. Great food cabinet with lots of quick takeaway choices. Lots of bacon and eggs rolls and my favourite a salmon eggs Benny on a bun. Cost about $15 au. They do coffee. Especially busy on Sunday as it's nippers day, which is training for our future Surf Life Savers. This takeaway is all swimmers and casual wear.
Upstairs formal(r) restaurant. Best to book as it can get busy. Beautiful views over the ocean. Great food. Bar. Dress is comfortable neat casual. You order food next to bar, then it is delivered to your table. Food is little more expensive but higher end and you pay for the view and atmosphere. Order drinks from bar, wait for them and take them to your seat. Cutlery and serviettes are on a table near pokies. Yes, there are pokies however are out of the way and unassuming...
Read moreWe booked the Surf Club as the venue for our wedding in March 2025 and it was a seamless and amazing experience. Tina was incredibly helpful, polite and took the time to answer any and all of our questions leading up to and planning the day. She had recommendations for vendors such as decorations (was not pushy at all) who turned out to be amazing and reasonably priced without compromising high quality and professional services. Her advice when planning for food and drinks was honest and saved us from wasting money on unnecessary extras.
The venue itself was perfect, one week after the cyclone we were booked for our wedding and everything was managed and communicated clearly and timely. The deck overlooking the ocean was the perfect back drop for our ceremony. Being able to have the ceremony and reception all at the one location made the event even more enjoyable and seamless transition.
Tina handled many unplanned interruptions between guests and resolved them quickly and professionally going well and truly above and beyond her role to make sure our day was special. We will be forever grateful to her calming and caring approach to make sure the day was memorable and enjoyable for all.
The whole staff throughout the night from the food to bar staff were very accommodating, always ensuring the safety of guests and handled the crowd exceptionally well in a friendly manner.
We highly recommend booking this venue for a wedding or any...
