Rick Shores is a fabulous restaurant right on the beach at Burleigh Heads. The food is a fabulous fusion of Asian flavours. It is an interesting and imaginative menu with a decent wine list. The restaurant has a modern dΓ©cor with a bustling atmosphere and can be a bit noisy when relatively full. A reservation is essential particularly coming into the festive season. The service is fabulous and the location is perfect. It is not cheap but the dining experience is well worth it. Food: 4 | Rick Shores is a fabulous restaurant right on the beach at Burleigh Heads. Β Β Β Read moreWhat an absolute waste of time and money! Iβve not been one to write reviews and wouldnβt normally complain but this experience, Iβve never had and we dine out regularly, disappointed is putting it nicely. All this hype for this place and yet only left with a bitter taste and still hungry. We arrived at 8.45 and didnβt get out of there until 11.20. Waiter 1 - nice and polite at first then complete arrogance when he spoke about the menu talked up the (miniature) signature bug roll $24 because we can charge that! Wtf who says that? And miniature I mean 3 bites and youβre done. A man could eat in one go.
Waiter 2 - in your face car salesmen vibe very pushy and rude, not just accept the order we asked for kept pushing for adding more dishes drinks. My husband just ordered another dish to get rid of him. Luckily though! Because one of the large meals as they say on the menu - lamb, small amount of meat on a large plate with say 12 to 15 peas and garnish on top. Over priced, chewy asf. Wasnβt eaten by any of us and was left on plates. The curry was so strong in flavour that it was not enjoyable. But edible. Everything else that came out prior was cold, had to peel the prawns so they could be consumed. Bug roll was nice but the size for the price is a rip. Only dish that was good was oysters. Meals took forever to come out just one little dish as a time. Share meals - if you are sharing and not big eaters then serves would be ok, the serves are well presented but small in size and over priced asf.
Waiter 2 - still pushing for those sales trying to encourage drinks and more food. Told the waiter that meals were ok and couldnβt eat the lamb. He didnβt even know what to say he just legged it away from our table.
Atmosphere was nice at first, beautiful view of the beach at night, until there were Sharmootas drinking beside us and being in incredibly loud squealing and carrying on. Just no respect or consideration for anyone around them. Staff encouraging them. Definitely not a classy look or upmarket feel.
When we were ready to leave after eating what we could, waiter 2 was back pushing desserts that was a firm NO this time, I couldnβt wait to get out of there, we walked up to front counter, greeted by a nice man, when asked how everything was, we couldnβt not speak up as each one of us were just so disappointed and if that was my business Iβd want to know. He was a little set back I think by the honesty and apologised but kindly removed the meal that wasnβt eaten from the bill.
Overall experience was terrible and wouldnβt recommend. Sadly underwhelming. Overrated....

We were quite excited for our visit to Rick Shores as we had been recommended the restaurant, been told about the beautiful views and amazing food. We had also read many good things about the place. Upon arrival we were absolutely stunned by the views. We arrived about ten to fifteen minutes before our table was ready. We were kindly offered a seat outside to enjoy some drinks while we waited. Even though we sat there for ten to fifteen minutes they did not manage to serve us all the drinks ordered, and we had to ask for them multiple times. After we were seated at out table we were finally served our last drinks ordered on arrival. We were assisted with the menu by a lovely waiter when ordering. He helped us pick out some popular dishes and some of his favourite. The problem here being the sizes projected. We where told with multiple of the dishes that they were so big that it was enough food for at least two persons as a main, and it would be to much for a single person to eat alone. Upon receiving the dishes to our table, after an unacceptable long wait, the dishes were only comparable to starters in sizes, and could not even have qualified as a child's portion. We did not even get all the dishes we ordered. Even though the server went through the order with us to make sure he got everything right we were missing a total of four dishes. The dishes we did receive were nicely presented, but tasteless and unsatisfactory. There was one dish however we were somewhat satisfied with. Although it to was totally tasteless, the lamb was really tender and melted in the mouth. Our waiter did not have any knowledge of wine, but knidly and professionally asked the somalier for help in choosing a wine pairing for the food. The wine selection was good, but I was shocked when I saw one of the servers sitting on the floor pouring wine between bottles. (See picture) The sparkling water, the most difficult thing to mess up, was completely without carbonation throughout all my 7 glasses. Even after informing the staff two time and getting new glasses of water both times, there was no improvement. Having said this we were pleased with the view and the fact that we were offered to move to a table with a better view as soon as one became available. My rating may seam harsh with only 2/5 stars, but the rating is relative to the expectations set by the price and reviews of the restaurant. We will...
