I honestly don't know how to feel about this. I had been waiting to try this place, as the website says its open from 4:30pm and Im not usually in the area that late. But today was a late day at work and figured it was a good time to try it. However when I got there I noticed they were also open for lunches between 11am-2pm.

I ordered the Sweet n Sour Pork ($17.80) & the Honey Chicken for ($17.80). The total came to $36.03 which was really expensive. When the woman taking my order listed it off, it sounded like she was adding the white rice separately, which would have been another $5 on top. When I asked her if that was the case, she said yes. I was a little confused, and said I didn't want to pay for extra rice. I had to try several times before she seemed to understand. The total was still $36.03 on the receipt when I read it later. When I got the order I was delighted by having a large-isk box to take it home in and a small bag of prawn crackers to go with it. They were large portion sizes and looked great. I tried one piece of each as I put it in the car, and found it was... odd. It wasn't until I was home I noticed there was no rice at all.

The Sweet n Sour Pork had some kind of thin outer layering that was weirdly crunchy. And the pork just tasted... weird. Even after I poured the sauce on it, it was strange and chewy. The honey chicken's I normally get from various places have a nice crunch to it. This... this was just sad and wet and... icky.

I also noticed in the Honey Chicken container their where these strange flecks of black. They weren't really large so I hadn't immediately noticed them. They were really fine/thin. I don't know what they were.

It just... It wasn't very enjoyable. The food just had such an...

There are a number of really good things about Jade Garden. The young fellow that greeted us and served us was a very nice happy helpful man with a big smile. That always makes a great starting point to any place. Parking is virtually at the door. The tables and place were very clean. There are plenty of food options to choose from. We started with the corn and crab soup and a Tom Yum Goong with prawns. This was followed by vegetables in a garlic sauce and vegetables in oyster sauce. These were all cooked very well and were very tasty. Portions were big. Reviews are a funny thing because I would say Jade Garden does and excellent job at being what it is. It is an inexpensive eating establishment so the prawns in the soup were a little small rather than big juicy prawns...still very nice. The vegetables were all european...not a hint of choy sum or gai lin but again, I think it caters to providing excellent food at a very reasonable price to people who want something a little different but is still within their comfort zone. And it succeeds in that fantastically. Clean, friendly, reasonably priced and no dominating background...

I could not believe how bad the customer service was. I ordered for the first time Chinese here and didn’t get any sauce for my sweet and sour pork. I asked for a credit just for this part of my total meal as I have a newborn at home and couldn’t leave the house again after 40 mins to go and collect. I spoke to the owner who was not apologetic and then proceeded to call me a scammer saying I have called and scammed this place before and will only give me a credit $2. Didn’t want to let me speak and then wanted me to bring the pork back tomorrow to get a refund. How scary to think they take food back from people, who knows what they do with it. And how many people are calling to complain to think an Australian 35 year male sounds the same as someone else who complains all the time. As a first time customer I am appalled at this customer service. Will never return and in the end was too scared to eat the food if they accept food back from customers...

Great Little Chinese Restaurant, which is Big on Flavours, Service and Value. Located in a small Shopping complex on the Corner of Ferry and Cotton Streets Nerang. Good selection of Menu items, also has Great Value Lunch Specials. Had the Mixed Entree & Mongolian Beef with Fried Rice. Both were Very Good. Recently Returned and had their Sweet and Sour Pork & the Special Fried Rice. Very Generous Serving Size and the Taste was Exceptional !!
