The place looks nice and that’s about it. Honestly, there are so many incredible fine dining on the gold coast, this place is just a stylish rip off. I do not understand the good reviews, neither the rude answers of this venue to any non-5 star review. So I’m not expecting any answer, just wanted to tell people how terribly bad this place really is. To call this fine dining is a stretch, only the price is fine dining. I ordered a seafood pasta, the waitress came back to say there were no scallops but they would put extra prawns and mussels…the dish had 3 mussels the size of a fingernail, if that was extra, how many are normally? My friend tried to order barramundi, they didn’t have it, they told her 20 min after she ordered, after choosing 3 different dishes that they didn’t have at 7:45pm, they had the third. My other friend ordered a topping of prawns, that came in the wrong dish. We were outside for a second when the mains arrived, so my partner got his steak with prawns on top and thought it was part of his dish, when we came back and notice the mistake the waitress got angry with us because my partner ate the prawns 🙄 huum, what?? At the end she brought the prawns to my friend…the bill came with TWO prawns toppers, when we asked she was terribly rude, we were just asking and she started loosing her mind, and said he ate the prawns…oh well, yes, because he didn’t know…so we spoke to the manager that removed form bill straight away (he was probably the only nice person in the entire place) To receive every single drink we had to ORDER MULTIPLE TIMES, I ordered a glass of wine 3x before I got it. THE WOOORST part is that the food tasted pre-made and completely sad, pasta was tasteless, “aged” steak tasted like $20 steak from pubs, gnocchi had a canned weird sauce.
We tried to keep it nice because I didn’t see my friends in a long time, but it was hard to swallow the way we were treated and the poor quality in a “fine dining” restaurant.
EDIT: Thank you for the response and the apology. We are not unreasonable people, we know mistakes happen, but instead of acknowledging and fixing, we were told it was our mistake (Btw the gnocchi and the steak were not even ordered at the same time, we asked her to ask the chef if it was possible and the addition was approved by kitchen team, we were well aware it was a special request and we did not get upset about the mistake itself) AND NOW we are being told that it was language barrier, oh well…it is rude, even if you don’t want to, 3 people were english native speaker, the only person that did not speak english did not even talk to the waitress. And on the venue side, although the waitress tried to blame us in a very spicy way, lack of good english was not her problem, there were no communication issues, she meant exactly what she said. And, the truth is that we shouldn’t have been that patient, and we should have called the manager straight away. He was very helpful, which unfortunately does not change the...
Read moreWe were recommended Koi by a friend of ours that has dined with you previously. We are on holidays from Melbourne and were looking forward to dining with you guys. On arrival we were met by a very friendly guy who gave us the choice of two tables to choose from once seated we started to look through the menu some time went by and we had been there for now 20min with not one of the waiters coming to offer us any drinks, I got up and asked the friendly guy at the front who was in charge, as we had not been served yet. He was very apologetic and sent someone over straight away and said the first round of drinks were on the house.
Great I thought, I ordered my usual CC&dry in a Short Glass, my wife a wine, the kids a Apple Juice and a Raspberry lemonade. Drinks came out soon after but my CC& dry in a Tall glass not a short as I had ordered, I told the waitress that I ordered a short glass so she took it back and said she would get me another. I seen the waitress from my table take it up to the guy behind the bar watched him roll his eyes and tip half of the drink into a short glass then the waitress brought it back over. I told the waitress that Iam not drinking that as I watched him tip Half of it out, she again apologized and said she will make another one. Once that was sorted the rest of the night was ok up until it was time to pay the bill.
The lady up the front printed it out and said here you go I looked at it and seen we had been charged for a bottle of wine which we had never ordered the waiter then came over asking if I got the bottle of wine which was strange as he had been serving us, any way once that was sorted I paid the bill and was asked if I would like to tip my waiter in front of the waiter which I replied no I seen the two both smirk at each other.
Once we arrived back at our hotel I was going through our bill again talking about it with my wife and realized we had also been charged for the supposedly free round of first drinks.
Overall the food was great but the service was very disappointing and due to that I don’t think I would dine with Koi again nor recommend anyone else to dine...
Read moreHmmmm.. well! When arriving at Koi a young maître’d told us a grab a drink at the bar and he’ll come and grab us once he sets our table.. after 10 minutes, we made our our way to the table as the maître’d was more interested in socialising with a table of pretty females! After a further 10 mins the waitress came to our table and asked ‘are you ready to order’ our reply was.. a menu to view your food selection would be a great start! After viewing and ordering our meals, the entree came out wrong! (got one of the two bread dips wrong). Our mains followed.. Sirloin Steak “with no bone marrow please” and the Kipfler potatoes. 5 minutes after the Steak coming out by itself, we asked if we will be receiving the Kipfler potatoes?? The waitress apologised and said she’ll chase them up - after a few more minutes of waiting (they’d obviously forgotten the potatoes!) I asked the another waiter if he could re heat the now cold Steak! A new Steak the came out (which was great) but it came out with the bone marrow that I’d originally asked not to include! they then proceeded to give me thin cut fries rather than the ordered Kipfler potatoes! After apologising again for the error, the waiter asked would I like another beer? My reply.. yes please that would be great… I’m still waiting for that beer!!! I feel for the Kitchen staff as they did a great job with the meals that came out (albeit that they were wrong), but the front of house staff totally let their kitchen team down!! As for the young maître’d - I’m guessing he was the owner?? or the entitled young son of the owner?? as he basically did nothing all night other than sitting at a table socialising with a group of pretty young females, while his team did his work for him. After a balls up of a night - unfortunately we will not be...
