âïžâïžâïžâïžâïž From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm, genuinely hospitable welcome that set the tone for the night. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance of modern, funky, and cozyâexactly the kind of vibe you want for a memorable dinner out.
The cocktails were absolute show-stoppers: unique, creative, and seriously delicious. The little appetizer soup in a shot glass had us wishing for a full bowlâit was that good. Oysters came next, dressed in a sauce so original and flavorful weâre still talking about it.
Our entrees were next-level. The zucchini flower with scallops was a revelation (and Iâm not even a seafood person!), while the beef with pistachios and pumpkin seeds was beautifully inventive and unlike anything Iâve tried before.
The mains kept the magic going. The largest cannelloni Iâve ever seen arrived blanketed in a creamy sauce that melted in the mouth, and the beef with asparagus and mushroom barbecue sauce was perfectly tender and silkyâjust melt-in-your-mouth perfection.
Dessert sealed the deal. My banana soufflé with caramelized honey was a dream, and the strawberry-and-berry creation on the other side of the table looked like edible art and tasted even better.
Service was the secret ingredient of the night. The whole team radiated kindness and professionalism. Huge shoutouts to Karl who was the best host and made sure when feel like the center of the attention, we are impressed with for the masterful cocktails by Matt at the bar, and to our wonderful waitress Louisa for her warmth and patience. You can tell everyone here loves what they doâitâs passion, not just a job.
We originally stumbled across this place on Google, but within minutes it exceeded every expectation. This is easily one of the best dinners weâve had in a long time. We canât wait to come back to try more of the menu and see all those smiley faces again. This restaurant currently reviewed by 1.2K people at 4.8 stars, but we feel they deserve 5 thumbs up! Highly, highly...
Read moreMy husband and I went there to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary. We were very excited about the evening ahead. It has great reviews from clients and food critics. We decided to order the degustation menu with matching wines.
Unfortunately we were disappointed with some of it.
We had a martini espresso cocktail to start with. We were both disappointed. It was not as cold as it should have been, and it tasted like plain strong black coffee. In our opinion it was as if all other ingredients were missing.
The soup lacked flavour and seasoning. If we had not read the menu, we would not have known that it had cauliflower and parsnip in it. The truffle flavour was barely noticeable. Presentation was poor - served in a glass. We were given spoons to eat it, so it was clearly not designed to be drunk from the glass. The glass needed to be tilted to spoon the soup out, but the glass was hot to touch.
The scallop dish was extremely disappointing. The scallop was poorly cooked and cold. The bacon was leathery, and the black pudding was seriously dry.
The desserts were very good, but the panna cotta was set a little too firmly.
On a very positive note, the following dishes were absolutely superb!!
The kingfish. The zucchini flowers. The beef eye fillet. The berry soufflé.
All the matching wines were very good.
Service was excellent. We did let our server know that the scallop dish was not good. She was exceedingly apologetic, and liaised with the chef accordingly. We were given an extra dessert to share in way of an apology, and that dessert was excellent.
In hindsight we should have mentioned to our server all that we weren't happy with, but we didn't not want to make the occasion an...
Read moreWe visited the restaurant for a birthday dinner yesterday. We chose the Degustationen menu for 110 p/p. The meals were not bad but nothing special for that price point. We have had many Degustation experiences and this one did not stand out. Some dishes would have also benefitted from a pinch of salt to alleviate the flavour.
Moreover, although I had mentioned in the reservation that it was going to be a birthday dinner, it wasnât taken into consideration by the restaurant staff. I initially thought this restaurant may probably prefer not to do anything about special occasions until we witnessed that one of the tables got a special birthday treatment. However, while my note about the birthday dinner may have been neglected by mistake and we do give the staff the benefit of doubt there, a more concerning observation was that the only guests who were escorted to the door when leaving was the table with the birthday treatment. While that table consisted of all Caucasian guests, all the other tables in the restaurant who left before us incl. ourselves were mixed-race or purely Asian couples. None of those got this special attention after finishing and leaving incl. ourselves. We couldnât understand whether this was on the basis of the race, or that the table with special treatment were more people (hence spent more). In any case, I think it would be appropriate to give all guests the same attention, either escort all guests with a smile and goodbye etc. or none of them. In the end, Iâm sure with the standard that the restaurants aims to offer, Iâm fairly certain, they wouldnât like the guests to leave with a second guess for your gestures and service and without...
