Well, I can see why everyone raves about this place, but from a professional perspective, I felt it lacked the care and attention it deserves. The menu is creative, yes, but the execution just wasn’t there. It really missed the mark in terms of quality. I’m not sure if the team was understaffed or just having a tough day, but the energy felt a bit tense, and unfortunately, that translated into the experience.
I paid $33 for a steak sandwich with fries, and at that price, you expect something great. But the dish lacked care — from the quality of the ingredients to the overall presentation and flavour, the chips was just the left bits and pieces from the bag. I could go into detail about each element that didn’t quite work, but I won’t go that far.
I also tried a $27 dish that featured a house "baked" croissant — not made in-house, just baked. As someone who understands the baking process, I could tell it wasn’t given the proper environment to prove and bake properly. It reminded me more of something you’d get from a supermarket like Coles. The dish was also loaded with so much feta that it was difficult to get through — far too salty and unbalanced.
The coffee, however, was good. I’ll give them that.
I know this might sound a bit harsh, and it's definitely not personal — but when you’re charging premium prices, there’s an expectation of quality and consistency that just wasn’t met. Sadly, I wouldn’t go back. It was too expensive for what...
Read moreIt's been a while since my wife and I had a night away without the kids, let alone breakfast out. After staying in Surfers for the night I went on the hunt for somewhere for breakfast early on Sunday morning. The Winey Cow popped up on my search "great coffee Surfers Paradise" and after looking over the photos and menu we made the decision to try it out.
Coffee was excellent! Great temperature for both the dine in and the takeaway we got as we left.
Food was really good, different and interesting. I had the Prawn Benedict and my wife the Lemon Curd and Raspberry waffles. Presentation of both was excellent, serving size was generous.
The staff were all very welcoming, it was about 7:30am and they had maybe 5-6 staff on so service was quick. As we sat we could hear them welcome each guest as they arrived, they were enthusiastic without being in your face, just felt welcome.
Ordering was via QR code or at the counter. We chose the QR so we could see the photos of the meals, this is handy if you're not sure what to expect OR you may feel anxious asking for sides/modifications in person.
Price was on the higher side with the two meals and 4 coffee's coming in around $80. Yes this is a lot for breakfast but it was a special occasion and we don't do it often.
Overall, really pleased with our choice, would most definitely go back and tell others the...
Read moreHad Chicken Burger - The chicken was almost black in colour instead of being a nice golden brown. It was cooked with the fat at too high a temperature I think. Any decent Chef would not have served it. My wife's fish was also more black than golden brown. Come on guys. You have a great little cafe - Serve food how it should be done or customer numbers will dwindle. Hi Jade. Came in today 27-8-2025 at1.30pm. I didn't say hello because I didn't want to be treated any different. I had the all-day breakfast because I thought there would be no way your "chef" could ruin something so easy to cook. I was wrong! Everything was over cooked. The poached eggs were hard and the fried haloumi was so tough even the sharp knife I had couldn't cut it. The croquette and bacon were also overcooked the meal once again looked like your "chef" couldn't care less about his job. The avocado and the tomato were very nice. I think that's because there was no cooking involved. Again, it's a shame as your cafe is lovely and your floor staff are really professional and courteous. I will...
