I am truly shocked that people are rating this cafe well. It was among the worst I've ever been to, and I eat out a lot! To start off, the menu is way to large and confusing. Why have separate menu items when you've literally added one extra thing to the dish? Just have a customisable base item (e.g. pancakes) and optional toppings. I think it's always best to do a small amount of dishes really well, instead of having a ridiculous amount of very average options. Reading other reviews, I see a few people have mentioned the free [disposable] bottle of water, as if it's so exciting... I actually found it infuriating because it's super wasteful! From where I was sitting I could see that all the empty bottles were being thrown into a bin used for everything else - and I'm pretty sure they weren't sorting that bin for recycling afterwards because I also saw them remove a full rubbish bag, tie a knot in it and take it out back. To be honest the amount of waste in the cafe is really terrible and they should be made act more environmentally friendly. Lots of drinks, sauces, chips etc. are served in unnecessary containers and packaging, which also cheapens the overall experience. Whew, I haven't even got to the quality [or lack thereof] of the food and drinks! I ordered a 'Line Out' frappe, which wasn't even frappe consistency, more like a thick juice. It tasted strange too - a very sour, almost plastic-y/chemical flavour. I ended up sending it back because I didn't want to drink it. The pancakes were the size of pikelets, with small pots of syrup and yoghurt/berry compote on the side. Laughably, they actually bothered to include the phrase 'strawberry garnish' on the menu, even though it was literally a single tiny slice of strawberry! LOL. One of my companions ordered a bacon and egg toasted sandwich, and the bread looked like the cheapest supermarket kind, not to mention soggy in the middle. The whole experience was very disappointing. I will never eat there again and I will encourage others to avoid it, unless they do huge overhaul or something. There are so many better options...
Read moreWe decided it’d be nice to go out for lunch at Redcliffe last Sunday. It had been a full on week with work and I needed to chill by the water. Even though we were seated out the front (with half the view blocked by a hideous green obstacle - see photo - that could be half the size or moved to the other side of the entrance), we must have been invisible to the slightly fragile looking young male waiters. They attended to other patrons that came in after us. After some time I had to get up and go find someone to help us. I ran in to the ‘Out the Front’ manager lady and told her that we were being ignored and had been waiting far too long for service. She apologised and said they were busy (but not too busy to ignore us and attend to other customers that arrived after us). Another lady waiter took our order and not too long after the food and drinks came - the drinks were on the house as per the correct decision by the ‘Our the Front’ lady manager. Another annoying bit was the folded back plastic wind shield that was rolled up and attached to the awning above me (see photo). I suffered the constant drip of water on to my right thigh every few minutes. Also, partner asked for plain white bread and was given multigrain instead. We didn’t mention these last 2 issues because we’d had enough of the situation. I hope Cafe 63 Redcliffe can fix the annoyances that we experienced. It made the whole day a bit of a downer; and I really needed Sunday to be...
Read moreWent here to pick up an Uber Eats order and was told 2mins until it was ready. Another driver arrived not long after me and was told 5mins until his order was ready. We both waited 10mins and were handed our orders at the same time. I waited longer because the server packed both our orders at the same time when mine should have been packed and handed to me before the other drivers order was packed. As I left, I asked the server what was the point in telling us drivers different times if he was going to hand us both orders at the same time anyway. I told him that I wouldn’t have waited if he told me upfront that I’d be waiting 10mins. And this is the important part, I am a contractor and I’m the only one who gets to decide how my time is spent. By not giving me an accurate time, the server impacted my ability to control my own time as a contractor. So it was worth giving him the feedback. There was no yelling, no swearing, no belittling. I recorded the interaction on my Apple Watch and will provide to Uber if necessary. I left immediately after. I have now received a negative rating for “professionalism with businesses” which is absolutely not okay. I gave feedback based on what I’m allowed to expect and the server took it personally as if I was attacking him. He did the wrong thing and now is so sensitive he has to rate me down. I’ll remove this review if the store removes my...
