Rude owner. I went in to order coffee and something to eat, ordered a brownie while pointing to the brownie in the cabinet. The female owner brought it out to the table and while deep in conversation I put my spoon through the brownie that I got but realised it was the wrong one. I had pointed to the salted caramel brownie and got given a fudge brownie which is different texture, looked really rich etc. I didn’t taste it at all because it didn’t look to my taste. I took it back into the counter and politely said that I got the wrong one. The female owner got her back up and argued with me that both are brownies and I should have specifically stated the salted caramel brownie, not just “brownie”. I told her that I had no idea there was another brownie in the cabinet and I was pointing to the one I wanted. She wouldn’t have a bar of it. I put my plate back up on the counter and walked out shaking my head. sat back down and waited for my coffee with my mum and decided to never go back. I’m at the shopping centre daily. I saw the owners talking to each other behind the counter and finally the male owner brought the correct brownie out. The female could have done that and apologised for being so rude to begin with. I’m glad they saw sense. But the damage is done. Maybe get the female to make the coffees and the male to serve customers because she...

Since the "Under New Management" sign went up earlier in 2023, Shingle Inn has been an absolute delight to visit. I've been coming here for the past five years and enjoyed it, but the new owners make it a vastly superior experience every time.
Everything I hope for in a cafe is here: genuinely friendly staff who take time to know you and your children, a gentle and relaxed atmosphere, delicious food choices and of course, great coffee.
The team are very accommodating and are truly happy to see you. They take the time to carefully confirm your order and later to make sure everything is OK. They provide thoughtful suggestions, and these conversations will extend beyond the limits of a cafe order and into Real Life territory if you want them to.
I love coming here. I know I will always be welcomed with a large smile from real people who care very much for my experience in their cafe, and who truly care to make that personal connection.
I highly...
Read moreOrdered a large coffee (flat white) & a carrot cake with a dollop of cream. $14.40. Wow!! Very expensive.!! Then to be spoken to by staff member very rudely, when he reached across me to get the empty plate, I sniggered. He asked what I was laughing at, my reply was his rudeness, no excuse me , nothing. He then suggests I leave, or shouldn't have gone ahead with the order, when told of the price. When coffee delivered I asked the girl to clarify the cost to me. She printed out the receipt. The receipt given to me in two fingers by the rude bloke. Cream $1.70. The price of the dollop of cream. !!??? Not even mentioned in the extras on the menu. The menu has since been removed from the table I'm at. I can now understand why Muffin Break is so busy, within this centre. Never again here at Shingle Inn. Rude operators who need to learn how to interact with their customers in a positive way rather than encouraging them to terminate their order, & then suggesting they...
