Nice cafe with a worthwhile mission filling an unaddressed gap. Good menu which appears to change seasonally for local produce, great service, very expansive seating and convenient parking.
We had the brunch platter and ricotta dumplings with coffee and a very refreshing cordial. Most of the platter was great but be cautious as the pickles can be a bit sour/bitter (and we say this as German/Latvian background that loves pickles and makes own sauerkraut). The dumplings were great and the meal was a good shared lunch for two.
Overall very happy and will return to try the rest of the menu. This is an enterprise well worthwhile supporting and there is an obvious mission goal of excellence in service.
We just wish it was a little closer the CBD, I suspect most Hobartians have no idea a cafe of this quality even exists as it's tucked away at the end of Collins St. It's also not open on Saturday which puts the kibosh on a leisurely Saturday brunch and...
Read moreAs a first time visitor to the Apple Isle, I stumbled across this wonderful establishment, quite by chance, on my usual orientation ramble, whenever I visit somewhere new. I neither knew what or why, this establishment was about, but I needed a coffee, after dragging myself up and out of the city and, as soon as I walked in, felt a calm vibe, so decided to stay for brunch. The staff here, are 'truly' friendly, attentive and diligent. I tried fried eggs on curried sourdough toast, ( it had a far more attractive title, which escapes me) which was both amazing and filling. I 'cottoned on,' after noticing a sign on the wall, explaining what 'Hamlet' was about. When I offered a donation, I was offered genuine surprise and appreciation. I encourage anyone chasing a decent coffee and something to sedate the hungry beast, to step inside 'Hamlet,' and, help make...
Read moreSituated adjacent to the rivulet park and the beginning of the South Hobart Rivulet Track, this café enjoys peaceful and family friendly surrounds. The food and drink is consistently made to a good standard and includes a few creative options amongst tried and true favorites. The social enterprise ethos is wonderful; using local produce and goods while helping people in need of on-the-job hospitality training. The service is carried out at a relaxed pace so I would not recommend Hamlet for people who want a 'shoot through' take away, but there is a table with coloring equipment and the nearby Park for parents who want to relax...
