My recent visit to Maharaja indian restaurant left me thoroughly disappointed, primarily due to the subpar customer service that overshadowed any potential positives.

From the outset, the staff seemed disinterested and inattentive. It took an uncomfortably long time to be seated, and once seated, the lack of acknowledgment from our server was noticeable. Requests for simple information about the menu were met with indifference, making the dining experience feel more like a chore than an enjoyable outing.

The timing of service was erratic, with long waits between courses and an overall sense of neglect. It was evident that communication among the staff was lacking, as our orders were mixed up, and our server seemed unaware of basic details about the dishes.

When issues were brought to the attention of the staff, the response was apathetic at best. There was a noticeable lack of effort to rectify mistakes or accommodate customer concerns, leaving us feeling unappreciated as patrons.

The final blow to the evening was the check, which included items we never ordered. This not only reflected a lack of attention to detail but also created an additional hassle in settling the bill.

In summary, my experience at maharaja restaurant was marred by indifferent and unprofessional customer service, detracting from any potential positive aspects of the dining establishment. It's disheartening to witness such a disregard for customer satisfaction in an industry that thrives on creating enjoyable experiences. I regret to say that I won't be returning to maharaja indian restaurant and cannot recommend it to others seeking a pleasant...

Be warned the food here is addictive . I mean, unparallleled , unmitigated , sensationally-strategic, palette-raining, symphonically-saturating, tastebud holy-wow invigorating, and thats understating it!

Fellow citizens of earth, you're mission is complete, look no further for majestic Indian bow-down-worthy cullinary creations! Be warned though, their is a disclaimer here, if your not religious, this celestial food might be the proof of god you were looking for.

Worth the trip to tasmania for this gem alone. Don't be jealous Mt wellington your still cool, but Maharaja Authentic Indian is the Tasmanian cullinary dream. Like you i eat pretty much everyday of my life, so i know a thing or two about food and this rates above all indian restaurants ive been to in NSW over 30 years of trial and mostly error.

I highly recommend the palak paneer and the amritsar kulcha as starters, to this incalculable voyage of delicious expansion. For now this food can be bought for mere money alone, priceless things rarely are for...

In short, good food, bad service. Would think twice before revisiting.

Delicious food, everything we ordered was prepared very well, spice level was followed as per instruction. However the service wasn’t good at all. They were polite while taking the order but the food took way too long to arrive. Few other diners who came after us were served quickly but our main course hadn’t even arrived. The breads came way before the curry which is pointless and a waste, cold roti and naan doesn’t taste very good. Additionally, we asked if we could have some more raita to go along with the biryani, which the waitress brought promptly but she failed to mention anything about any charges. We weren’t aware that a few spoons of raita would cost us $3.5 Raita usually comes with the biryani since it’s a nice combination, the serving was small so we asked if we could have some more. We might have reconsidered if they told us the charges. Definitely not pleased when we saw it on the bill...

Probably the worst Indian food I’ve had in Hobart in a while. Maharaja used to make good quality food but the standards have fallen way down! Ordered a Veggie Korma and Chicken Vindaloo and neither curries were fresh. The vegetables were old and had a foul smell. The vegetables smelled like it had been cooked and been sitting out for a long time and then mixed with the korma sauce. The chicken was an overly red colour, tough and chewy. They use too much red dye in their chicken vindaloo and chicken that is not fresh. The picture you see here is barely eaten food - after spending so much money on dinner. In a cost of living crisis, restaurants need to understand that customers deserve fresh, healthy foods, worth the price they are charging. We called the restaurant to advise and asked for a refund but they only offered us the same meal, that had the same issues 😒

Everyone likes a home cooked meal at the end of day, especially when you are spent on a holiday. This restaurant felt close to that. Plenty of tables to sit, namesake decor and great service. Paneer Pakora was the starter we tried, which was nicely fried. It lacked a bit of salt, however went well with the mint chutney. For main course we had Roti, Amritsari Kulcha, Veg Kurma and Veg Biriyani. The stuffing in Kulcha was sumptuous and Kurma tasted amazing. It was easily the best dish we tasted over here. The Veggies was cooked in perfection that is Mughalai sauce. The spices were infused well into the rice and it tasted good. Bit closer to how a Pulao would taste, but Biriyani in texture. We enjoyed it. Generous portions, standard prices, everyone seemed to be enjoying their time while we were over there.
