Crown Currency Exchange (Cat and Fiddle Arcade - Hobart) — Local services in Hobart

I have tried to exchange money at this kiosk over the last 4 days. The first day I decided not to exchange due to non-transparent rates quoted (most websites give a rate and fee breakdown), the next time it was too busy and had decided to exchange small amount only. Today however they refused me service all together because I would not give them my mobile phone number. I did provide a copy of my drivers licence as requested but when I advised I didn't want to provide my phone number because they have no valid reason to to require it for identity purposes they refused to exchange currency. This is the only place in Hobart we have to exchange currency and this company believes it can extort clients into providing unnecessary private information and also provide very poor rates to clients because they believe they have a monopoly. I did try to get a quote online with this company but had no response! Don't...

I brought my mom to the nearest currency exchange on the map and we got ripped off. We would usually get more exchanging Singapore dollars to Australian dollars at home or via remittance and multicurrency cards at the market rate of 1:1.13 but on Wednesday, 21st February, they gave us a rate of ~1.06 and got AU$141.94 for SG$150 ($150 ÷ 1.06) when we should have gotten about AU$170 ($150 x 1.13). The teller gave us some excuse that the currency rates on the internet doesn't reflect the actual rates but the difference was really too much.While my mom brushed it off, I was not pleased with the transaction as I know my rates after living in Aussie for over a year. We were served by Manisha and I still have the receipt. I was wondering if I should be reporting this incident to the police for fraud as we had been cheated of money. Worst Customer Service ever!! would never recommend anyone to use them. I called this morning to check the price for USD as i am travelling to US soon and reply was you can check the CBA website and whatever their price is, i will do it better than that. My computer is busy. HOW RUDE!!!!! I found a much better Price on Travelex, ordered through them no fees at all. SO better order online people than facing this kind of business and customer service.

By the way i am amending my response because you are thinking i wanted to jump the queue, no, i am not expecting to be served before others at all. All i wanted you to understand that, you can take a phone number down and call back when you can. So please do not picture me as if i wanted to be served before others.

I would give you a HUGE ZERO for this as you are picturing me wrong for your own bad customer service.
