We arrived and I announced we we there for a 50th birthday, the older blonde lady looked at me perplexed, to which I quickly said that we were only there to have a drink. She looked at us like we were well beneath her and said that we could go out the back, which we did. We had 2 children with us with their mothers, those children had seen a big clear jar of chocolates on the bar when we walked in, as kids do. So I ordered a pint of draught and whatever chocolate that the kids saw on the bar. With that I witnessed the barman remove the jar and put it under the bar. I was always prepared to pay for the chocolates with my pint, but felt clearly like they didnt want us there. They treated us like lesser citizens than them, with distain. I work for a food and wine company and although it was not my intention, I would now, never, ever recommend that location as family friendly. I will report back the treatment we received. Some of us do not live in the country, but some do. They are embarrassed that in a country town they took us to a place like that. Sham on you Bull and Mouth, you obviously are not looking to expand your business, just keep your locals, because I believe they are the only people you wish to have in your establishment....
ย ย ย Read moreGotvtold by a family member about this place. So while I was stopping over here on the way home from SA I decided to go and check it out. First thing. Book. They were booked out. We had to sit at the bar which was ok. Alot of regulars here as the staff knew first names of more than a few people. This tell me that the place is good already. The feel of the place is like a not snobby upmarket pub. Love that vibe. Some great mixed drinks on offer and happy hour. We got the Salmn special and the scotch from the menu. My companion said the salmon was very good. My steak was cooked as ordered. Medium rare. I got the special sauce from the menu as well. I cannot remember what is was called but it had mushrooms and was like an old school Dianne sauce. Very nice and sharp. I would have given 5 stars on the food however, this is were I get picky. The beans with the veg were just a little old. Colour was faded. Also, the steak while bring good should have had a hotter heat on it as the fat on it wasn't rendered down enough. Yes I know. I'm fussy. This is not really a bad thing as I ate the whole thing. I will definitely be back here if a come to...
ย ย ย Read moreVisited here a few times now and have enjoyed my visit every time. We have tried the beef cheeks with sweet potato mash, the garlic bacon and cheese cob and the steak with chips. Accompanied by some moscato and beer. All of the food has been delicious. The beef cheek is slow cooked so well it just falls apart when touching it with the fork and the mash is super flavourful and smooth๐ My partner was very happy with his steak, cooked perfectly to order. The cob was a great addition as a starter. The portions are all good sizes and will certainly satisfy your hunger. Prices are okay, I think beef cheeks were $35, steak $45 and cob $14. Staff is friendly and service is fast. Plenty of seating inside and more outside, partially covered by heating lamps. Would recommend making a booking for any weekend night otherwise you might have to sit outside. Love coming here and will...
