Chickpea Cafe — Restaurant in Victoria

Had to wait nearly 1&half hours for a bowl of soup :-( Didn't have a great experience. It was a Sunday and they were busy but I didn't expect to wait that long for a bowl of soup. Once I finally got it - it was delicious. I know you say you have only had this place for a few months but there are a few things that need to be sorted quickly so you can retain your customers. I don't think anybody working or on their lunch break would be able to wait as long. The line up to place an order took longer than normal and you need a better or quicker system than writing everything down, then cutting up the orders to hand to kitchen or barista. It seemed clunky and slow. All the food looked delicious and there was no problem with that. Just the process. I was informed after 20mins of waiting that my original order had sold out - so I ordered the soup, thinking that would be quicker. It wasn't.

Also very few people sitting together were getting their meals served together.Two separate tables of customers had to go ask where their food was after waiting and watching their dining partners finish their meals.

People weren't happy about that.

I hope you are able to get much better organised with your systems as your food was...

If I could give it 0 stars I would !! I’m not someone to normally write a review however I feel in this case it’s needed as we are extremely disappointed with everything about this place, the food coming out not even close to warm and even more disappointed with the disgusting service here, would never recommend this place to anyone. Don’t waste your time or money! The staff were passive aggressive towards us. Finding every excuse under the sun that our food didn’t come out for 55 minutes, blaming it on us adding 3 hash browns that take 2 minutes to cook and avocado on one of our plates) when my partner went in to ask how much longer it would be he got told to “relax, it’s fine, it’s here”, even after this we still didn’t get our food for another 5 minutes even after he saw it sitting on the pass when he went inside to ask how long it would be. At this point we didn’t even want to eat anymore because the other 3 people we were with had eaten and also been sitting there waiting for us to get our food for 25 minutes after they had...

Visited the café today and ordered two hot chocolates and two focaccias. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. After waiting over 40 minutes—and only after I asked where our food was—the focaccias finally arrived. One of them wasn’t even what we ordered, likely because they ran out of the correct filling.

The owner did come over to apologise and explained that a staff member had placed the focaccias in the sandwich press and left at the end of their shift without taking them out. While I appreciated the honesty, this isn’t the first time I’ve experienced long delays with food here.

To make matters worse, when the focaccias finally did arrive, the inside was still cold. At that point, I didn’t bother complaining again as I had to rush back to work after trying to eat quickly. Disappointing...
