What a semi-hidden gem! I say semi-hidden because at first I did not see this place even though it is on the Main Street in Huskisson.. and I am kicking myself. My friends were all eating from different places but at the same table, I don't like to admit that I am fussy but I am a vegetarian who doesn't eat mushrooms so I sometimes find it hard to find a meal that I like. I walked into the store on Friday Dec 6th and was greeted by a friendly girl who seemed so genuine and happy. She asked if there was anything in particular I was after. I told her what I might like however it would require changing a few things about a meal. I was shocked when she said that they can absolutely substitute things to cater for me. No one ever offers that, and while smiling. I was blown away. The man on shift with her was also very friendly and making jokes. They bought the food out to me as I was sitting at fish and chip shop next door with my friends, and it was so good. The best meal I'd had all week while in town. Even a lady who worked at the fish and chip shop asked what it was as it looked so good.. and it was! I went back in and told the girl thanks so much and how amazing and refreshing it was to have experienced customer service as great as that, the food being good was a bonus. 10/10 and I will definitely be returning when I get back to Jervis Bay, and I will be recommending to anyone I know who is passing through. Gold Coast venues could learn a lot from this team. Thank you! ps I got the potato feta fritters with avo, haloumi and salad instead of salmon and maybe eggs I think it was? It was delicious. The salad was some sort of cabbage or pickle with what seemed like black rice or similar mixed through, different to anything I've had but nice and the chilli jam topped the whole...
Read moreCame here on a recommendation today, sadly we were hugely disappointed.
Upon arrival, nothing happened, no welcome, greeting, direct to a table, water or menu. When we found a table for ourselves, it was dirty despite there being very few other customers, but it did get cleaned for us though.
After finding some menus for ourselves, deciding what we'd have and waiting for someone to take our order, we got sick of waiting and went to ask if we could order, to only then be told there was no table service, (turned out to be very little service anywhere at all)
We persevered, went to the counter to order, became a little perplexed as other people came up behind us, and successfully placed their order, while we were left standing and waiting. The woman in cafe uniform sat at the counter absorbed in her mobile phone, we were informed was on her break, and not to be confused with someone who might be able to help us.
They don't do simple substitutions, so no you can't have the fritters with bacon instead of smoked salmon. If you want a substitution for breakfast maybe try McDonald's, they can do it for you, no problem.
Food arrived, no table water did, but we were able to get that by going up again and asking. No one came and checked if everything was ok, which would have helped as one of the condiments was also missing, another trip up to the counter got that sorted out though.
Food was average at best, the rest of the experience I've pretty much summed up.
Luckily they weren't busy. At least it's not particularly well...
Read moreThe two most visited cafes to visit in Hukisson are 5 little pigs and Salty Joe’s. We ended choosing Salty Joe’s because the other cafe was full, but the food and coffee at Salty was pleasantly nice. With any cafe or restaurant’s at Hukisson, reservation is essential because it’s the busiest town where tourists will hangout.
There’s a good all day selection of food to choose from that you would expect from a popular cafe. They also serve breakkie burgers, sides such as fries and croquettes, hot & cold drinks, fruit smoothie, super smoothies, fresh juice, home made food and kids menu. Most of the dishes served have rather disappointing presentation, however you can’t judge a book by its cover, it tasted quite nice besides from the homemade burnt hash brown. The portion is quite generous and the price quite reasonable. The coffee taste pretty good except the milk froth had a lot of bubbles and wasn’t smooth for a latte.
Service is fast and staff...
