Extended family booked at 6pm, my family showed up at 5:20pm to try get in a little earlier, which they accommodated as we had plans to go to the skywalk for sunset. We placed our order at 5:56pm per our receipt and were told there isn’t much of a wait time, roughly 30 minutes which was perfect. It’s started to become really late and tables were starting to show up. 30 minutes in I just wanted to make sure they had received it and knew of it. They said yes and confirmed with the kitchen to which I thanked them. Another 30 minutes passed and I went up again and asked where our food was (1 hours past original ordering time). Meanwhile whole tables of people (10+) who had arrived after us were getting their food. I then noticed in the kitchen they had clumped dockets together and I asked are you doing individual orders or grouped table orders. They said they have grouped all tables together, even though I had confirmed with staff and the kitchen themselves (open design) they still grouped my docket. Another 30 minutes later (it’s now 7:24pm, 1.5 hours later) our tables food started to come out which my order was almost the last order to come out for the table even when we ordered 30-45 minutes before the rest of our table. In my experience running multiple level restaurants in the heart of Perth City. They do not know what they are doing, even the food itself was bland, asked for medium steak, came out well done. Surf turf option was great if 1/3 prawns wasn’t off. My sisters salad had hardly any dressing, only good thing was the chips and I paid $52 for it. Wouldn’t recommend this place, management and kitchen need work or even the owner himself might need to think about restructuring. 5 people in the kitchen and each time we walked up they weren’t doing anything except talking or standing around. So why the wait time when i confirm 2-3 times? Poor service! I feel sorry for the bar staff, they were lovely but had no clue… safe to say we missed the sunset and it ruined our last night in Kalbarri. Thanks Finlay’s (yes...
Read moreGroup of six for Saturday pre dinner drinks and dinner. I'm keen on the Findlay brews with special orders made to shops in Perth. Our second year of visiting Kalbarri with Finlay's high on our list of enjoyable activities when in town. There was excitement of a return visit in the group.
Food Ordering was easy. A combination of at the bar and at table using Qr codes. Food delivery was prompt. Unfortunately the waitress dropped a plate of our mains. Some of the food hit my clothing. We didn't make a fuss as it was all a bit embarrassing for the waitress who was very apologetic. I ate some salad from my sleeve and asked for a damp cloth.
A new plate of food delivered in a few minutes. My wife said her fish in batter was very oily (perhaps because of the rush to replace?). I had fish burritos and they were excellent.
I've had to wash and tumble dry my jumper and down jacket to get some of the residual food off.
About 4 of our table were looking forward to desserts. Lemon Cheesecake in particular I was told. Unfortunately, they'd run out.
On the whole an ok evening. Accidents happen but it would have been nice to have been told that laundry costs etc would be taken care of. My wife unimpressed with her mains and has asked not to return back for food.
UPDATE popped in again to buy several cubes of ginger beer, Gose, beer and whilst getting those we had some food and pints of ginger beer. As expected, superb. Very friendly and attentive service. Thank you Finlay's and see you...
Read moreSo close! Prawn cocktail tasted everything I wanted it to taste, crispy shredded iceberg, juicy prawns, and delicious pink sauce, but could not enjoy it served in a bloody wine glass!! Felt and looks like a tiny portion for $18! Get rid of the wine glass and add a slice of rustic bread and it would have been a 5 stars with minimal extra cost to do. Service was ok but felt like I was sent to sit outside in the corner (when I asked if I could sit somewhere else - under shelter with a fan - staff were nervous and said I needed to ask at the bar- I didn’t - I would have felt I was being difficult, felt like they should have probably found out for me or let me sit there as I was here for a couple of hours and it wasn’t reserved) . It would have been nice to feel a bit more valued as a customer, given I’ll probably work in Kalbarri heaps and return here lots if it’s nice, will probably encourag family and friends to do the same. Atmosphere was lovely, family friendly, relaxed, again, would have been given a five all round had I not been seated the way I was and the prawn cocktail wasn’t served in a wine glass (prawn cocktail dishes are open lipped and this got closed off at the top hindering my access to said delicious contents 😄) Kalbarri lager was a bloody good lager so that tipped me up to an overall 4 from a 3! Thanks Finlays! 😄😍🍻🍤 (Price is slightly more due to public...
