Kingaroy RSL — Restaurant in Kingaroy

So to start, I'm not one to complain so this is hard for me to write. I was very disappointed tonight when I took my family to the Kingaroy RSL for dinner. We had all finished dinner and I looked over to my eldest daughter (14yr ) and noticed she hadn't eaten most of her meal. I asked her what was wrong and she said it wasn't nice. She had ordered the Battered Dory special. When she passed it to me the Fish and Batter were soggy, also it tasted horrible. I brought this to the attention of the server and I apologised for complaining but my daughter couldn't eat this meal. The server said she would talk to the Kitchen about it. So we waited nothing.. Meanwhile, my daughter was hungry so I purchased something else to eat. Still nothing. This upset me as there was no apology from the kitchen, no.... can we make her a new meal, no.... here's a voucher.. So when we were leaving my wife spoke to the lady at the front counter about the situation. The lady at reception said we should have spoken to a supervisor and was dismissive. Again No.... sorry, No.... here's a refund for her meal, No.... here's a discount voucher, NOTHING.. We have been going to the RSL Kingaroy for 10 years now and this does not make me want to come back. Very poor effort and I'm very sad they think so little of their customers... Oh and if my daughter get sick from her meal tonight they will be hearing about it...

We have eaten at Kingaroy RSL a few times since making Kingaroy our home last January. The four stars are for the food. The steaks are fantastic. BUT!, the staff seem so preoccupied with duties, no one smiles or engages. Tonight, I had my plate whipped away as I was swallowing my last bite full of food!...the young man taking my plate asked hurriedly, "Finished" - but didn't give me time to answer! Perhaps the Bistro manager could have a small talk with staff about table service, friendliness, engagement etc - we would have ordered coffee, however, are never offered dessert/coffee; but seriously, have never felt that welcome. (Its nice not to clear a table before everyone at that table is finished their meal). The valuable wait staff, ('Front of house') are SO IMPORTANT, that I think that training has been largely ignored. The young ladies who are on reception are always engaging, welcoming, and...

OVER-COOKED STEAK!!! Came here specifically for a good steak, ordered the most expensive (by weight), stressed that it must be medium rare, and if in doubt on the rare side of medium rare ... but definitely not medium, and needed to see red in the middle. The server seemed to type in this to the system. It came out medium well done! With sauce smothered all over it to seemingly hide the fact that it was over-cooked. Wiped all sauce off, cut through steak in a number of places... all of it was over-cooked. What is it with some chefs. No idea about cooking time and resting steaks. Ate it anyway as was very hungry, but most relevant did not want to cause a scene in front of the girlfriend if complaining. Would have been better off going to one of the pubs I know can cook a steak as ordered. Also had no oysters left, seems like poor...
