Little Italy — Restaurant in Kingaroy

Wow, what an experience. More than an hour wait for our breakfast but we probably need to take some of the blame as we ordered an extravagant menu choice of bacon and eggs with a hash brown.

No greeting or instructions, so we grabbed our own table and waited. Fifteen minutes later it was obvious that we probably needed to get our own menus as there were none on the table.

Menu collected and choices decided, went to the counter to order and still no greeting apart from a couple of grunts whilst coffee was being made.

Order provided and more than an hours wait for food to arrive.

Underwhelming at best. Packaged butter placed on the balsamic glaze to make the experience all that much better with sticky fingers. Buttering the toast was an experience as there were more holes in the bread than bread.

A request for salt and pepper was met with a look of distain. Again, I should have trusted the chef in such a quality establishment to season the food sufficiently.

Bacon was ordinary, hash brown flavoured with three month old oil but my poached eggs were near perfect, hence the two stars. One for each egg.

Went to little Italy to meet a friend for lunch , wasn’t very inviting , I sat at table for a few minutes , no staff greeted me to tell me that they had no table service, eventually I worked out that I ordered from counter , the lady seemed irritated and told me to wait , I ordered a coffee, which she brought to my table , I waited for my friend to arrive 10mins later , I went to order a coffee and the irritated waitress , rudely informed me that I would have to wait 30- 40mins for a coffee! We were also going to order food., but decided not to because if took 30 mins for a coffee , how long would we wait for food , eventually the waitress asked if we were waiting for something , then rudely told us that they did not have table service , I felt so unwelcome there that we decided to leave , I was visitor at Kingaroy , don’t think I would stop...

When we visited Kingaroy last week, a boutique shopkeeper told me about a new cafe across the road from her shop, saying that they make “the best coffee”. The next morning we and a few friends went to Little Italy for the first time. I, a non-coffee-drinker the last couple of years, decided to indulge in a coffee to test the shopkeeper’s claim. She was right! My almond flat white was superb, with the perfect strength, body and crema! (When I WAS a coffee drinker, I was very fussy and could not tolerate a wishy-washy, weak brew. I liked it strong.) I was very pleasantly surprised to enjoy the coffee as much as I did. The six people in our party all enjoyed their brew, as we did the delicious cannoli in which we all indulged!
