This is usually one of our favourite places to go for a consistent Italian dinner. I still have no complaints with quality of food, but the service has become something that leaves a bad taste in our mouth. Yet before recent months we’ve only had good experiences with service.
Our 2nd last visit one of the entrees we ordered was the basket of bread. The waiter that served us gave it with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. We knew that that was a seperate item on the menu (plus we’re really just after the butter that usually comes with it), so we double checked and asked if we’d get charged for it. She said no it’s free. Despite this we got charged for it at the end even though it was something we never asked for or wanted. We also got charged for extra onion? And spent several interactions with the same waitress following up chilli oil and water that we asked for from the start of our order.
On our latest visit the manager that seated us was great and on the ball, but the waitress who served us, came immediately after we sat down (like literally after we had just sat down) and asked if we were ready to order. We politely told her we’d need a few more minutes to which she rolled her eyes and left.
Thing is we came at around 8:45, and after that she never came again. We kept trying to wave her, and other staff down but no one took notice. It wasn’t very busy, about 7 tables max. Around 20 minutes later we managed to wave down the manager that seated us. He was surprised no one had taken our order and did his best getting us served promptly.
Later while eating our food we saw another couple at the till waiting to be seated, while the waitress who served us was leaning over the front counter on her phone right in front of them. They were starting to look around the whole restaurant wondering what was happening. When she eventually looked up she seemed shocked that there were customers right in front of her, but still didn’t serve them. Instead another manager came and served them while she was still leaning over the till on her phone.
Later when we paid we asked for takeaway containers. The manager who helped us earlier said no worries I’ll ask a waiter to pass one to your table. We heard him asking a waitress to pass our table takeaway containers, only we never received them. We had to get up to the front counter again after waiting 10 minutes to get them and finally get out.
We originally planned to get our food and buy some dessert later, but with all the delays we didn’t even get time to order and took our business elsewhere for dessert. We were super salty about this one.
Love this place and hate doing harsh reviews but hoping it actually gets the pressure on...
Read moreThe food is great. My only food complaint is a lack of salt on the chips for my meal, table salt is used for cooking, and the salt shaker was clogged due to moisture. (Not a big deal, it wasn't the best westher) Everyone else's food was perfect and as expected. Food service was also fast considering how busy they were by the time we'd ordered.
The drink service, though, was embarrassingly slow. Especially for a bottled drink. Also, considering this was before the rush and before the restaurant was half full. Plenty of friendly staff around taking orders, but they just couldn't get a drink out to us, as they don't allow service at the bar. They then accidentally doubled the order, which was a forgiveable mistake, but it was good for those who waited what seemed like a lifetime for their first drink.
Leaving was difficult. They did split billing, which was appreciated and what we required this time, but with only one staff member on a register, it created a line of others impatiently waiting. Especially as it's at the door amongst the line of others coming in waiting for a table.
My suggestion is to get bottled drinks out first and then the cocktails when they are ready, or allow service at the bar. I would have been happy to pay separately for our drinks. Most are happy to wait for an ordered drink. They understand it takes time to make. I'd suggest a second staff member serving customers as they leave when someone needs split billing to prevent the blockage at the door.
Once again, the food was just as good expected, worth the trip in, and we will dine there again. However, we will have to ensure we've ordered drinks in the first 2 minutes so we can enjoy a drink with our entrees.
This is not a place to enjoy a drink and socialise whilst deciding which great meal to order. You're better off looking up the menu before you leave home. I guess they don't want people walking around with drinks as the tables are very close together to address how popular they are. Drinks and the delay to get out tarnished our evening.
This was a Thursday evening at 5pm. It was a small wedding party where you're less likely to pay for others you've literally just met. For the record, I was just a guest and paid for my siblings just to get...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Siena's, an Italian restaurant nestled in West Leederville, with my family. The experience was nothing short of extraordinary. From the get-go, our waitress recommended ordering a jug of lime lemon & bitters instead of four individual servings, which turned out to be a wise suggestion that saved us some money. The drink itself was a revelation, with each sip delivering an explosion of flavours that lingered long after it was gone.
We embarked on a culinary journey, sampling an array of dishes that showcased the best of Italian cuisine. The potato croquettes were crispy on the outside and delightfully creamy on the inside, while the arancini transported us to the streets of Sicily with their golden crust and luscious filling. The calzone vegetariana was a medley of fresh vegetables and gooey cheese, encased in a perfectly baked dough that oozed with flavour. The margherita pizza was a classic done right, with its thin crust, tangy tomato sauce, and generous sprinkling of mozzarella.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the Rigatoni Truffle. This exquisite pasta dish featured sundried tomatoes and snow peas swimming in a creamy mushroom truffle sauce. The flavours were harmonious, and each bite was a revelation. What made it even more special was its price—only $19 on special nights.
The atmosphere at Siena's was electric, with an undeniable buzz that added to the overall charm. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring that our every need was met. The food arrived promptly, beautifully presented on each plate. It was evident that great care had been taken in crafting each dish.
If I had to nitpick, the only slight letdown was the potato chips with sour cream. While they were enjoyable, I couldn't help but feel that I've had better chips elsewhere.
In conclusion, our experience at Siena's was nothing short of exceptional. The attentive service, delectable food, and vibrant atmosphere made it an unforgettable experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Siena's to anyone seeking an authentic Italian...
