Chido Cantina — Restaurant in Lennox Head

Very disappointing. Booked a table for two on a relatively quiet non season Wednesday. Ordered one pre dinner beer, 15 mins later and with a further request it was delivered. We had ordered on arrival two simple enchiladas at 635pm - at 725pm, still no meal. On asking, the order had not even been a activated or indeed in the oven. As a regular restaurant consumer and business owner, there was little reasoning or explanation of such a lengthy delay. I counted five staff, kitchen included. My date and I had little choice but to walk away scratching our heads and would suggest the management review its basic service standard and time management. There was no ‘manager’ to speak with but left my number which was not returned. We popped next door to the Asian Fusion place and had an excellent dinner in front of us in under 10 mins. Be warned. The food was great, the vibe was good, but the music was too loud. We were seated right next to the speakers, so when the booth next to us became available we asked our waitress if we could move so that we could hear each other speak. She said "of course", so we slid into the next booth. Five minutes later, the young head waitress, who had already displayed signs of some sort of superiority complex, came up to our table and asked us in a disapproving voice, if we could check next time before moving tables as the booth we had moved into was set for 4 and there were only 3 of us. Went last night and was blown away by the food, drinks and the service. It was cold, and windy, and I saw the staff not only give their own jackets to customers outside, but relocate multiple bookings inside to cater for wheelchair disability, and move people in to the warm space. Well done, and then was told the restaurant won the Best Mexican 2023 rated by The Australian Good Food Guide. And it’s true, check their FB, Insta or website, plus the frozen Margys and Daquiri were unreal and cheap.
