Sharing our first time experience at this restaurant as we heard a lot of good reviews about it.
When we initially arrived there was maybe approx. 10-12 tables in use, so wasn't overall packed, however when we left it was almost full, so definitely worth making a booking at this restaurant.
It took a little while to get seated, a lot of staff saw us waiting but attended to other stuff, like cleaning tables. Once we got seated and looked through the menus we pressed the button to get the staffs attention to place our order. After the 3rd press and still no-one attending our table we had to wave down a staff member. What's the use of these table buzzers when they are totally ignored?
We wanted to try one of each meat to BBQ, so we chose one beef, one pork and one chicken thigh. We were also going to get crispy chicken, vegetables to BBQ and also rice. There was only 3 of us at our table so this was plenty of food. We were then told we had to choose at least 3 meat dishes from the the Wagyu, Beef and Pork sections. I then asked isn't chicken included in the meat selections, when I was told it wasn't and that we need to select another one of the other meats. So basically we had to forego our chicken selection and select 2 x beef ones, bit disappointing as the price difference was only $3-$4 to add a Beef instead of the chicken. There should be some type of flexibility in this as it wasn't mentioned anywhere in the menu that you had to select these options only.
Anyway from this point on the food came out quickly and all the selections were great, could not fault the taste and quality of the meat. Would have been even better if we had our chicken selection but it wasn't to be.
Once again we had to press the buzzer as our son never got his drink until halfway through our cooking. Once again we then had to get the staffs attention as these buzzers simply weren't working as multiple staff members just kept walking straight past our table.
I would have given a 5 overall if we were able to get the dishes that we had chosen and the service was a little better. We would still re-visit the restaurant again and hopefully they have taken this feedback on and agree to be a bit more flexible with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEight people dining and they brought my food out 50 minutes AFTER everyone elseās meals. You read that right. Fifty minutes.
We all ordered at the same time and it was one bill per table. However, all other seven people at our table (except me) were served their food and drinks.
I buzzed staff to remind them of my meal order. I was told āOk, Iāll check on it.ā However that waitress never returned.
Ten minutes later, I buzzed again. A different waiter came, saw that everyone else had finished their meals and asked abruptly, āDo you even want it now, or not?ā I said yes.
In summary, service was terrible. My meal was brought out AFTER everyone else in our group had just finished eating their meals.
There was no apology for bringing out my meal so late. No consideration. Nothing.
The meal itself tasted ok. But $24 for a bowl of spicy water with a couple of slices of zucchini/cucumber(?) in it is steep.
Very loud atmosphere which can be fun if thatās what youāre after. If youāre wanting to have a conversation I would not recommend as itās far too noisy to hear/understand anyone beyond the person beside you.
Also, very cramped. The chairs did not fit in under the table. No elbow room. Would not recommend pram or wheelchair access.
UPDATE: Since having posted my review, Daega Korean BBQ have responded. However, their response refers to fictional nonsense. For example, the rice is not free. We asked for rice and were told this would be an additional charge. Even if it were true, itās not as though I went to a restaurant to fill up on the free items and then rice. Pathetic response Daega....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad dinner last night with friends, a group of 7 ladies. We wanted to experience Korean bbq so they set up 2 bbq plates, but only after setting them up and bringing out side dishes did they explain must order 3 meats per bbq setting. We would have been fine with 1, and half the group wanted other meals so this meant we had to order more than we wanted or needed. The initial waitress was lovely and took our order, but an older lady came back and told us this rule, with no flexibility to accommodate us. This lady also attempted to upsell us repeatedly to set menu things we didn't want that were dramatically more expensive, and also upsold our meat choices without explanation of the price difference, just saying that one dish was "better". Noisy atmosphere and strong accents meant we didn't catch the full name of what she suggested instead, so only after the order was taken for the 2nd time did we look it up in the menu and realise it was double the price of what we had ordered. So it took over 30mins of confusion and changes and uncomfortable confronting conversation to order. The food was really wonderful when it came, I thought it was delicious and really...
