How does 1 small shopping centre support 4 different Korean restaurants? I guess each has its own characteristic appeal, and one day I might be able to say that I've worked my way through them all... but so far So Moon is the only one I've tried in Underwood Central.
So Moon specialises in herbal chicken soups so we went with one of these: no.3 special half herbal samgyetang & rice, $18. We couldn't figure out how this was different to the no.2 half herbal samgyetang & rice (ie. what was "special" about no.3) and tried asking the wait staff but their answer didn't really clarify things. The menu does say it strengthens the immune system and that's a good thing to want particularly in these COVID (and cold/flu) times so we figured we'd just get it anyways. I'm not familiar enough with the flavours of the various herbs/elements used so will just say that it felt healthy!
We also got some slightly less healthy chicken: no. 35 snowing fried chicken wings (8pc), $17 - served with chips, pickled radish, salad. This was $1 more than the non-snowing option, and I felt the addition of cheese was worth the extra. However overall it's getting close to the pricing at AYCE fried chicken wing buffet places where the wings tend to be bigger and you have more flavour options, so might give this a miss next time and save the fried chicken intake for a big splurge.
The place is pretty small with limited seating inside and some additional tables in an outdoor "deck". It soon filled up after we arrived and I'm pretty sure the majority of customers were Korean so I guess they're doing something right to attract their main...
Read more(Updated) came back to try out So Moon's dine in service, customer service was good even though it was super busy. Both waitress were accommodating and responded well whenever we asked for more side dishes. The food came out quickly. Ordered the bulgogi beef stew which was nice, a little sweet but that's how it's meant to be. There wasn't much in this dish, a few pieces of enoki, beef and glass noodles. The fried sweet and sour wings were awesome. I recommend ordering this dish. The last dish was the seafood tteobbokki, this was quite nice. I really like how the dishes came with good side dishes and complimentary porridge. The porridge was really tasty too. I also like the fact that if you pay by cash you get a small discount.
Updated:
I really enjoyed the half and half boneless fried chicken. I was served by a friendly waitress and didn't have to wait long for my take out order.
I'll definitely be back to try other items on your menu. Overall, quite satisfied with the fried...
Read moreWe went there on a Friday night for dinner, arrived at 8:00pm, and was advised to only sit outside because they are closing soon (9 pm), literally one more hour!
I found cockroaches running around next to my table/bench, and i asked staffs if we can sit back inside. Staff insisted NO, and mentioned they have NO CONTROL OF HOW CLEAN THE SEATING AREA due to it isnt their management area.
After food are served (8:30pm), we have 10minutes to finish the meal. As staff came over at 8:40pm to ask if we can finish within 10minutes as they are closing soon. I asked “what if i cannot finish in 10minutes?” She answered me “ we can provide you takeaway containers to take away your unfinished meal”.
Overall, service is terrible, food is edible but not great at all. Would recommend if you want to sit down comfortably and enjoy their meal.
Recommend you guys change the closing time to 8:30pm instead of 9pm to fool...
