FISHBOI — Restaurant in Logan City

Look Fishboi does have quality when you can get it, but it is seriously lacking in customer service and organisation. Allow me to explain what I went through tonight. I rocked up to place a take away order for 2 meals and 2 potato scallops. I understood they were busy and checked if 30 - 40mins would be enough time to prepare the food because they were busy. So I placed my order and off I went to do some shopping in the open Woolworths supermarket next door. After a 35min shop, I came back to pickup my order and was told another 30mins. So I waited for 30mins and checked again. I was told it shouldn't be much longer and so stepped outside as it was ultra crowded to wait again. After 15mins I went back in and noticed 2 numbers after my number had received their orders and mine was still not present. I waited another 10mins went back in and saw what I figured was part of my order. Another 3 people after my number received their meals while I was still waiting. They exclaimed that grilling the fish for one of the meals would take longer, I understood this but had witnessed several grilled meals and seafood being cooked for the patrons and other people who ordered after I did. After waiting another 12mins I went back in to see one of my possible meals(I can't confirm it was mine) had been sitting under a heat lamp for all this time. I also observed another person who had ordered after me also receive their meal and leave. At this point, I went and got a refund as I felt I'd obviously been forgotten about and also didn't want to receive half of the food I had ordered cold or going stale if that was part of my order. So I went and got a refund and left. It must be noted other people had requested refunds as well before me and I couldn't blame them. I'm putting this review up so others don't make the same mistake as me and in the hope that Fishboi start to have a good long think about how they can look after their customers better. Put it this way, If I had been told up front that I was looking at a 90+ minute wait, I could have had the choice of declaring, never to mind perhaps another night and going somewhere else. For the record I did go somewhere else and it took them 10mins to prepare and deliver my take away meal. Fishboi need to have a max cap on orders when the restaurant is full and stop taking take away orders full stop if they have a full house. This is a case of the age old customer care mandate. Ordered calamari, the prawn roll and oysters with vinaigrette.

Service was atrocious. The man running the oyster bay (appears to be management or owner by the way he was shouting directives at the staff) was quite rude to customers in general which made the beginning of the lunch very awkward. I ordered natural oysters with vinaigrette on the recommendation of the server. When it was served there was no vinaigrette on the platter and no comment as to why. When I followed up I was told 'we've been out for over a day'. Oh great - well I ordered about 20 minutes ago and not yesterday when you had stock. The prawn roll was absolutely lacking in flavour. You could tell the prawns weren't fresh and were different to the ones on display. Tasted like the thawed frozen prawns you get from Aldi for $13/kg. Small and flavourless. Even their mayo, lettuce, shallot concoction could not save the roll.

The only saving grace was the calamari hence I gave a second star for that.

This place consistently delivers next-level seafood. The crumbed calamari is always perfectly tender, never rubbery. The freshly shucked oysters with their house vinaigrette are absolute perfection - bright, fresh, and sooooo delish! Don't get me started on their batter - crispy, golden, and light as air. Don't sleep on the aioli with the fries, either. 🤌🏻

The grilled seafood platter is full of smokey, charcoal goodness, and even their burgers are top-tier (if you don't like seafood like my husband).

Honestly, everything is consistently on point and we've never had a bad meal.

I have told all my friends and family about how elite Fishboi is - and everyone I know who has subsequently tried Fishboi, have also agreed that they're pretty tough to beat.
