Excellent. We had been in Margaret River for two days and we hadn't really seen this cafe/ restaurant until we realised we wanted breakfast . Perfect place to go. You could sit outside, there was plenty of seating or inside with all the bi fold doors open , which felt like outside. I saw the Guy at the table next to me eating so I had what he had. Eggs and Bacon. It sounds boring but it was delicious. Served with two slices of sourdough, some spinach and I had a skinny cappuccino. Two eggs , loads of bacon and real butter. The toast was still hot when it arrived . My wife had the Mediterranean Breakfast , Houloumi cheese , sun dried tomatoes, spinach , poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce on sourdough toast . Fabulous . Neither of us knew what we wanted until we walked and then we did. Can't praise it enough. Shame I can't go back . Great service , pleasant friendly female waitresses , warm sun filtering in , comfortable seats and cushions too. You could see the Kitchen clearly, always a good sign to me and when we said how enjoyable it was to the staff, they thanked us and asked us to review, as apparently many people leave poor reviews . The menu is extensive and very reasonable priced too. Lovely coffee , good sized cups and hot , jusy how i like it . Clean toilets too. In addition the tables were cleared quickly after patrons left and tables were sprayed and wiped over . Well done staff. It was open later in the evening when we walked by later and with soft music playing it looked really good. A must visit restaurant...
Read moreWe don't usually leave reviews and definitely never bad ones because we don't want to hurt small/local businesses River Smith usually always has great food and service We also had a horrible experience with the lady making coffees/calling out orders - she was blonde with her hair down (in the food service industry?? WHILE making and bringing us drinks) she also did not have a mask on - whatever your beliefs on this the government has sanctioned laws and businesses are responsible for upholding them. She wore a mask below her nose to bring us coffee then proceeded to spill coffee all over our table and said 'oh, sorry' also that she "can't do anything with these masks" and walked off not bringing back napkins or trying to help clean the mess she made. She also rather than walking around the table to hand us drinks leaned over the table knocking the glass water bottles over making further mess she did not help with. Other staff were friendly and we understand it was a busy time and would also understand if she was having a bad day, but she did not make any effort to correct her actions or make it seem out of place - most of us work in the service industry and don't like to put strain on staff in any way however her actions were truly unacceptable from someone working in the service industry. In sight of a border opening and the week after cases were confirmed in Margaret River this establishment made us feel uncomfortable and we will most likely not be back. The food was good but not good enough to overlook the...
Read moreLove the atmosphere and the coffee is fantastic. Smiley staff and a good vibe. But sad to say my $24 breakfast was not good today. I know it’s a Sunday and this is classically THE busiest day in a cafe but we came in just before noon and it wasn’t that busy. When I received my poached eggs on toast the eggs were rubbery, like they had been pre-poached and then reheated making the yokes hard and the whites undesirable. The toast was dry with no offer of butter and the sides: tomatoes were under ripe and roasting them did not help their flavor and the spinach was dry. Granted it says “fresh spinach” but it just didn’t fit with the dish. The dish also had a side of tomato chutney which was just too sweet. Too bad, there was potential to have a really nice meal. I let the server know as I could only eat a portion of the dish and there were no apologies or sorry to hear that. Bummer. As a chef I know breakfast can be difficult and so can pleasing everyone, but this was basic stuff. Don’t think I’ll go back. Again, for $24 just for the food, it should be a lot...
