I came in here with my 2 sisters and ordered some food (chips) for us to share. A lady (we think her name was kelly) checked for my sister’s ID when she ordered (knowing she was over 21 years old) and saw the table us 3 were sat at. After ordering our food a man came over and asked for our ID’s, because one of us was under 18 we were all asked to leave, despite one of us being over 21 and responsible for her. There were also other children in the venue, mind you we were just coming for food. We said that it was fine however we had food ordered so we asked if we could cancel the order, the man said we could not get a refund and had to take the food as takeaway and leave. Firstly the food is hot food so would go cold if we were to take it elsewhere, secondly it was freezing cold and raining outside so we would rather go somewhere else where we can eat inside. My sisters and I were confused that we couldn’t get a refund and were persistently being asked to leave. We then asked if we could have a parent come, which they said we could stay if there was a parent present. We got our dad to come and explained our frustration on not receiving a refund to him. A middle-aged woman who claimed to be the manager then came over (we think her name was Kelly), my dad explained that this was not acceptable and the manager got super defensive and came across as very rude to all of us. We just explained that we were unhappy how the man asked us to leave without providing a solution or offering to refund for our food (which we wouldn't have ordered if we knew we weren’t allowed in the venue). This woman was NOT understanding or helpful, and my family felt very attacked by her. When working in hospitality, it is crucial that workers/staff are understanding and friendly towards customers and their concerns, no matter the circumstance. Eventually the lady allowed us to be refunded for the food after telling us all to leave the venue and refusing to speak to us. When she was refunding my sister she said degrading, very unprofessional and disrespectful comments towards her. My sister was never rude to her and was reluctant to speaking to her whilst processing the refund. This lady continued to say “How come your so smart but you had to get you dad to come in here…” and so on. She then left as soon as she get refunded with tears in her eyes and was so upset (mind you she is 21). This lady never apologised for the miscommunication and acted as if we were to blame. My whole family was very annoyed at the situation that had occurred, as my sisters and I felt rather targeted and dismissed. I am very understandable for venue respecting rules, but being refused a refund was not right. It is clear this staff member lacked professionalism and should NOT be treating customers this way. We will never be going back to this place. Do...
Read moreLovely tavern, great location. The setting inside was comfy and clean. Had an oldskool vibe to it with music to match. Lots of interesting history and pictures on the walls which my children loved looking at and reading. The service staff were really friendly and accommodating. We booked a 6pm table and we did this online in advance which I highly recommend you do as they get super busy especially the tavern.
There was a good menu which you go up and order and pay for when ready, and a seperate bar to order and pay for your drinks. Be mindful that tables are booked for just 90mins.
The food arrived for my husband and children first however mine didn’t arrive at the same time so I was waiting an additional 4 mins or so for mine so they had already started to eat.
My husband had the seafood chowder which he said was tasty but lacking a little in seafood there were a few prawns and muscles and that was kind of it so a little more seafood would have been good to help fill him up but he did enjoy what was there.
The kids had burger and chips from the kids menu, the burgers were quite small though so if your kids have a good appetite or slightly older it may not be enough especially if they are hungry.
I had fish and chips. Not a huge amount of chips but the there were two reasonable size pieces of fish but sadly it was extremely dry so was quite over cooked which was a shame.
We would defo go back to try again though as the experience as a...
Read moreI do come here a lot when I am in Margs. The happy hour prices are excellent between 17:30-18:30. The service is generally very good. The atmosphere vibe is Good without being great. Sports are shown on the TVs which is great. There are live tunes on weekends too. My main gripe with this place is the food ad-on prices that should be part of the meal to start with. I will give 3 examples that stood out to me: Caesar salads normally come with anchovies, if the venue has them available (not $1.50 extra) A steak sandwich would normally come with cheese and bacon (not $3 extra for cheese & $4 extra for bacon). This takes it to $37 where my local Karalee Tavern (that has won Perths best Steak Sanga 4 times and is always up there in the awards) charges $30 with cheese & bacon. It also is a “WA'S BEST STEAK SANDWICH HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE AHA HOSPITALITY AWARDS” Chicken Parmigiana in the vast majority of pubs in WA & OZ comes with ham. $30 without ham is expensive. I travel full time and eat out on a very frequent basis but not here as you get a lot less for paying more $$. A good spot for watching the game and having a few drinks but I would eat out elsewhere, as you get better bang...
