Margaret River is not just about wine any more. The maps supplied by the tourist bureau reveal an amazing concentration of entrepreneurs. There are two chocolate 'factories' Yum! although factory is not the right word. These are small businesses where the staff are genuinely excited about their product which is so much morish than the commercial product that one soon becomes spoiled. There is Silk Road where you can see silkworms going about their business, venison farms and mazes and of course wineries. Where would Margaret River be without wine? Although these small businesses are obviously in it to make a living, you never feel that they see you as a cash cow. Certainly in our experience everyone we met went out of their way to be friendly, pleasant and outgoing and the whole experience was memorable for all the right reasons. And so we missed out on doing one of these adventure caves. When we went back and told the attendant she took no responsibility and in fact blamed the publishers of the booklet. It started off with Chantel recommending I stay at Prideauās, (which was magnificent!) and then also with Kerry, suggesting some hikes in the area (my favorite is to 10 mile dam.)
