Maaaaaaaate. This was simply amazing. I try and be as honest and fair as I possibly can be when reviewing food and restaurants. This review is one of the easiest ones I have had to write. Amazing.... Simply amazing. Under new ownership/management...and the food is spectacular. Tuesday night was a bit quiet, (hopefully it is only a Tuesday thing and people make the effort to give this place a go). I hope everyone treats themselves in the future and make sure the visit and try this awesome food. Tonight was the aged Rib Fillet (with peppercorn sauce)... And Turkish Chicken. The steak was amazing and I could have just drunk that peppercorn sauce straight from the jug... Amazing. The Turkish Chicken was cooked and charred to perfection. Forget Taco Tuesdays...make it Aussie Hotel Tuesdays... You won't be disappointed. Ohhhh.... And there are deserts as well if you feel adventurous. Apple and Cinnamon infused triffle, and Raspberry and White Chocolate Cheesecake for desert. Fabulous from first bite to last. Well done chef ... My complements (and my complements don't come easy). WELL DONE!!!!

A great find. We recommended it and you will be wanting to put it on your.."To Do..To Dine". calender. Presentation of food, flavour of food, follow up service, a šŸŗ local brewed beer, sweets and coffee. The hosts at the Australian were so welcoming and professional. A labour of ā™” , open and final fit out still in progress I believe...just what Maryborough has needed. Thankyou.. great atmosphere in the outdoor garden.

Meals were absolutely 100% and also good value. If a small eater, definitely bring a doggy bag. Clean, maybe lacking a little in the outdoor area but once again the food definitely made up for it. Also a big plus for me as Queenslander was going to a pub with no pokies, felt like the good old days. Throw in a band on Sunday arvos and you've got my younger years.

Until recently, I would’ve given positive reviews about dining at the Australian Hotel – we’ve had a few great meals here. But sadly, something has changed – and not for the better. A fortnight ago, we dined with friends and – while steaks were previously cooked as ordered – this time, the medium-rare steak came out very – very – well done. Two people ordered the scallop mornay special, expecting a main-sized dish, but received just a few small scallops each topped with a small blob of cheesy sauce – definitely not great value for a main at $26.00. Meals also arrived at staggered times, so we couldn’t really eat together. Then last night was worse. The chicken in the parmigiana was clearly undercooked – totally raw in the middle – so couldn’t be eaten. First response when I took plate of very obviously half-raw chicken to staff member was "That's cooked fine"! But after a couple more attempts at asking staff member to be honest, they accepted and agreed that it was raw and offered a replacement meal (I declined as everyone was ready to go home). The steak was again overcooked. Meals continued to arrive with long gaps, so one person had finished before other meals started coming out. Sorry, terrible review but just honest feedback so management can address. Not sure what’s going on, we heard that a brilliant manager was no longer there – is there change of management or no management now? New chef or kitchen staff? It’s disappointing to see a place decline in quality to the point where some food...

Second time visiting, and this time we brought our friends along, who also enjoyed their meals. However, I noticed there is no vegetarian option on their main menu—just one vegetarian entrĆ©e. They were kind enough to prepare a mushroom burger for me, which was delicious. The chef is a great cook, and I’m sure they would prepare some fantastic vegetarian meals if given the chance. I understand that vegetarians are a minority, but I would love to visit more often if they added a couple of vegetarian options so that my friends who are vegetarian can join as well. It would be fantastic to see some new vegetarian dishes on the menu—I’m sure many others would...
