Bowl Bowls - CBD, Melbourne Braised Lamb Noodle Soup Regional Chinese dishes are taking Melbourne by storm this year. You no longer walk into a Chinese restaurant and order special fried rice and Mongolian Beef - you walk into a region specific restaurant and order their local speciality. Melbourne is a super lucky city to have so many cuisines and cultures right here available to eat. One dish that is up there with the most popular is Lanzhou hand pulled noodle soup. There’s an art to the way the noodle chefs pull and separate their noodles into thin or wide depending on what tickles your fancy. Bowl Bowl is a recently opened Lanzhou noodle house and it is perched in the epicentre of multicultural Melbourne CBD - Elizabeth Street where within a 100 meter radius you could taste over a dozen different cuisines. Bowb Bowls was busy when we got there - The staff were quick and attentive to help - really great customer service and showed us to a table right after we ordered. My good Broth-er @foodclub_aus and I both ordered the braised lamb noodle soup, it was a cold day and we wanted to feel warm and snuggly from sichuan laced soup. The first soup came to our table super quick - like, defied all theory of time - This was an awesome start, unfortunately our wide brimmed smiles were turned upside down when they told us the lamb soup had sold out and to order another type of soup - I wasn’t overly stoked with this as I would imagine this would be something you should inform your customers when they order and not after. Being placed on the spot having to choose another meal would usually put me in a severe panic however this time was easy as there are only a handful of dishes on the menu. I oped for the noodle with soybean paste & minced beef, not a soup but after requesting they were kind enough to give me a bowl of broth on the side which made up for a few short falls. We dug into our dishes and both of us noticed how clumpy and unfortunately over cooked the noodles were, lots of them sticking together and there wasn’t any bite or chew in the noodles at all. The braised lamb while good quality could have been braised for a bit longer, it was chewy, not so tough you couldn’t eat it but definitely not fall apart. That being said, the broth was delicious, nice and fragrant especially on its own with no additions. Once Bowl Bowl improves its consistency of the noodles and making sure customers know which items are sold out prior to ordering this will be an awesome Lanzhou option in Melbourne, I really like the lamb option for soup to change it up. 🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢 Broth Flavour: 🍜🍜🍜🍜/5 Soup ingredients: 🍜🍜🍜/5 Service: 🍜🍜🍜.5/5 Overall:...

🍜 Beef Brisket Wide Noodles, Dry and Soup 🐑 Lamb Burger 🐑 Lamb Skewers 🥕 Pickled Veg 🥔 Spicy Sour Potatoes
Bowltiful Lanzhou Noodle is a Chinese, Halal certified restaurant chain located in Melbourne CBD (Elizabeth St and their largest store on Swanston St) and Box Hill. They aim to delicer a culinary experience that’s both delicious and easy on the wallet.
“Yellow hand-pulled noodles (the natural colour of the wheat) swimming in a clear soup, and garnished with white radishes, red chilli oil, coriander and leeks - this is Bowltiful Lanzhou Noodle.” 🍜
Bowltiful only use halal meats and their soup contains no soy sauce, resulting in a lighter taste that may be complemented further by salt and herbs. Most of the menu items are the owners family recipes, passed down through generations. The noodles are made in-house from scratch, stretched and pulled to 9 types of thickness and shapes and freshly cooked to order. 🌶️
We ordered the Beef Brisket with Wide Noodles, in both Soup and Dry. The soup broth was good, and there is an abundance of noodles, however it did feel monotonous after a while. The Dry version was superior, with all the beefy flavour clinging to the perfectly cooked noodles. The beef brisket itself was very fatty, some people like it that way though, so you may be in luck if you do. The sides were ok, the Pickled Radish’s are a good choice to cleanse the palate.
Amongst all of the noodle chains, I wanted to like this just as much as the others, however it fell a little short. Still, a cheap eat in the CBD. Lots of solo dining tables too!...

During our Christmas trip to Melbourne and Adelaide, we made a stop at Bowltiful Halal Lanzhou Handmade Noodles after hearing glowing reviews—and it truly lived up to the hype!
The food was fantastic, and every dish showcased the restaurant’s expertise in handmade noodles and bold flavors. For lunch, we ordered a variety of dishes: the Dry Noodle with Stir-Fried Tomato and Egg (perfect for the kids), the Special Dry Noodles with Diced Chicken, the Hot & Spicy Beef Noodle Soup, and their Signature Lamb and Chicken Skewers. Each dish was flavorful and satisfying, especially the noodle soup, which we believe is their specialty.
The flavors were authentic and rich, making it a great spot for anyone who loves spicy food. The lamb skewers were perfectly seasoned, and the noodle soup was comforting and packed with depth.
While the food was exceptional, there were a couple of minor drawbacks. The seating arrangement is designed for smaller groups, so larger families may need to split up as the tables only accommodate 2-4 people. Additionally, there was a shortage of cutlery, which could be a challenge for families with kids or those who prefer forks over chopsticks.
Despite these small issues, the overall experience was delightful. The quality of the food and the authentic taste make Bowltiful a must-visit for anyone in Melbourne looking to enjoy handmade noodles and spicy dishes. Highly recommended for foodies and spice lovers...
