I booked online on a Wednesday for a table of 5 on the Sunday evening that same week - for 6:30. It was confirmed quickly through text, and I was able to note the need for a table close to the restrooms for my grandmother. They acknowledged they would account for this.
On the day I texted the number that confirmed my reservation and asked if we could bring a birthday cake. They replied quickly and confirmed this would not be an issue. On arrival we were warmly greeted by staff - brought to our table promptly (which was close to bathrooms as requested).
I didn’t get a chance to take photos of everything but all the food tasted fantastic - servings just right to share. We ordered pork and prawn spring rolls, and spicy wings to start. Then for mains, we ordered the fried barramundi fillet with mixed herbs and cashews, papaya salad, massaman beef curry, thai fried rice, pad se-ew chicken noodles, and stir fried cashew nut with prawn. For drinks I had a lemon iced tea, grandma had an apple juice and my dad had Singha beer. Everything tasted good and were decent sized servings. Of all the mains, I loved the massaman curry - they kept it warm by having a candle under the serving bowl; the beef was so soft and easy to eat. The barramundi was a close second - the sourness of the sauce tasted so good and not too overwhelming. Fish was fried to perfection. It all went so well with the cashews. My dad really loved the spicy wings, and the papaya salad. The salad is a bit spicy but tasted very fresh. For everything we had, total was just short of $200 which is very reasonable.
Overall I had a great evening and highly recommend a visit. It was worth our 40 min drive in the rain.
I also really want to emphasise the kindness of the staff throughout the whole experience. Such a warm environment.
Additional feedback: they have a Vegan menu. In terms of parking, it’s all street parking. The restaurant itself is a small and cosy space but enough room between the tables. Bathrooms are...
Read moreRecently had a wonderful family outing to A Taste of Siam and was pleasantly impressed by their extensive vegan menu!
The restaurant boasts an extensive array of vegan options spanning appetisers, main courses, and desserts, offering vegan renditions of classic Thai dishes like Green Curry and Pad Se-Ew, among others. For those interested in meat alternatives, they provide mock options such as chicken and duck, although the tofu dishes stood out as particularly fantastic.
Our selections included:
Tofu Chips Vegan Fried Chicken Vegan Calamari Vegan Stir-Fried Caramelised Tofu Vegan Pad Se-Ew Noodles Vegan Stir-Fried Crispy Chicken with Sweet & Sour (Undoubtedly the highlight) Vegan Fried Coconut Sorbet Mango Sticky Rice
The dishes were incredibly flavourful, with perfectly portioned servings that avoided the excessive oiliness often encountered in some other Thai restaurants. We left thoroughly satisfied :)
A Taste of Siam offers ample seating, and the staff is remarkably accommodating.
Overall, the experience was flawless. I highly recommend it, especially for vegans seeking a restaurant that caters well to both vegans and...
Read moreA great little haunt. Good staff and an excellent kitchen with a very interesting menu to boot. The owners know their food and present the dishes with authentic flavours and spices in mind for the local palate. Don't come here for fast cheap Thai cuisine, think of this place a great alternative to expensive inner city dining. The dishes are large and well prepared with allergies in mind and slight changes allowed to customise your dining experience. The desserts are excellent and if you want your thai food hot, then just ask for it to be Thai hot and that is what you will get. The only miss for me was the lacking of true local Thai food choices for those who know this type of food well. You won't be disappointed,...
