IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES, DO NOT EAT HERE!

It was such a pain in the ass trying to get food here. I had one good bloke assist me and my friends but no real effort in trying to figure out what meals someone with my allergies could have. We ended up getting served by another gentleman who made light of my allergies, treating anaphylaxis as if it wasn't very serious. I needed to reassure the gentleman 3 times before he understood that I was saying no Milk nor Eggs at all. I ordered a Schnitzel which would've come with Gravy and Chips but as sorted out with the gentleman, out of caution I wouldn't have the chips or gravy. He offered instead to give some veggies as a replacement to the chips which I was happy with. I had the meal, it was pretty average, a little overcooked the Schnitzel but the veggies were nice.

I was happy with this up until payment and realised later on I was charged for a full side meal for the veggies when I was told that the veggies would be a replacement for the chips that come with the Schnitzel. So while I ordered and ate less than all of my friends, because of my allergies I had to go through this big hassle of finding something I could have because of miscommunications and ineptitude, which usually is relatively easy at most other places and then was charged more than all of my friends.

With weekend surcharge - A normal coke, a piece of Schnitzel, a few small carrots and a small slice of pumpkin cost me $50.60.

As a poor student - not...

You've heard it said, 'good things come to those who wait'. At Abbey Road Cafe, 'decent things come to those who wait and wait and wait'. Approaching this restaurant, we were instantly taken by it's retro chic decor. Our jaws dropped even further when we requested a table outside and were asked (somewhat sarcastically) if we could see any free. We were forced to wait watchfully for a table to become free and unfortunately, we did not receive an employee's discount for doing the wait staff's job for them. We had the pleasure of interacting with at least six different wait staff, who were mostly lovely. However, it feels as though we were lovebombed, with our needs being attended to regularly in the first two minutes of being seated, then ignored about five minutes later when we were prepared to order. After we placed our order came the great drought; a long, agonising wait for our dishes. Delirious with hunger, the trams cruising along Acland Street began to resemble spears of asparagus (that's how desperate I was - I was craving asparagus). When the food arrived, it was certainly decent. The food was warm, the chips crunchy, and the servings generous. However, food tastes best to a stomach forsaken. It is important to note that the restaurant was incredibly busy at the time we had visited. However, the wait time was bordering on criminal, and the service left something to be desired. I would advise seeking out a road less...

Went there last night with some friends to celebrate a birthday. For some reason the Chilean waitress got a fixation with our table and she kept coming back just to make weird remarks. We also speak Spanish and there were some Chilean people in our table to whom she started making inappropriate comments. She was in our table like 60% of the time to the point that it was very uncomfortable, bragging about her whole life while we just sat there eating. We basically learned all about her against our will lol. She was making faces when we asked for a fork and knife (ma’am this is a restaurant, what do you expect) and was especially rude to one of us. Asked my friend if she came on a student visa instead of a working visa because of her poor English which isn’t true, and if she was happy that her parents were paying for her education in a judgy manner (LOL). I think there’s a time and a place for everything and this girl clearly doesn’t know how to treat customers. She really needs to fix her attitude. Serving customers is not only about bringing food to a table.

We also got wrongly charged and had to come back to tell them. The rest of the staff were nice and food was okay. Sadly, our...

Abbey Road- Love the open air environment, on a hot day, maybe some fans would be ideal, hanging from ceiling. Ordered the Vegan Salad with Halloumi extra for $35.50. I would suggest- as ‘Roasted Pumpkin’ is the first mentioned ingredient in this dish, it was slightly disappointing to only receive bare amounts of the pumpkin- the majority of the dish was ‘Baby Spinach’. Likewise, more Avocado would have made this dish a totally amazing 5/5 star option. Overall, the pickled Radish combined with the ingredients was a highlight & tasted superb with the Halloumi. For $35.50- I don’t think it would be that difficult to add more Roast Pumpkin & Avocado. The Mango Passionfruit Smoothie $14.00, with Bonsoy was SO tropical and refreshing- highly recommend. It was difficult to get the attention of staff to place an order, but once they came, the girls were very helpful. Will be back again for a second try at this particular Vegan Salad- hopefully with more Pumpkin & Avocado. Altogether $49.50 is ‘up there’ for a Salad with Halloumi & a Smoothie. So, I would expect a totally amazing Salad for this price. My friend ordered the Fish & Chips- it looked nice.

What a great place! Looking for somewhere to go after visiting amusement park and came across this, a very large restaurant with one of those menus with something for everyone, but such great decor! For a music nut like me, perfect. Framed posters and prints of all the classic and more recent artists (Beatles, Elvis, Sex Pistols, INXS, Nirvana, Pink) and more, and lots of instruments (guitars, drums and even part of a piano) on the wall. So much to look at... however food was disappointing. I had some saganaki which was good and some nachos which weren't good. Husband had their Roast of the Day (beef), teenager had penne bolganese and his mother had houlami salad. Note husband really keen on omelette but we were there at 1.40 and Breakfast menu off at 1, so missed out. For drinks decaf soy lattes, Proseccos, Coke, and apple juice. Would go again for the atmosphere and to try something different. 24.11 5 of us for brunch. I had vegetarian breakfast, husband had eggs on toast and friends had ribs and chips, waffles and bacon and houlami and eggs. Also decaf soy lattes for me.

We dined at 11;30 on a Wednesday. It was the most stunningly beautiful spring day. There were tables available inside and outside. The staff were super friendly and helpful sharing menu suggestions and taking an interest in our experience. The decor was chic and intriguing, with little spaces of different character here and there. As it was such a beautiful day, we sat outside to take advantage of it. The breakfast and lunch menus were extensive and appetising. My beautiful wife had the prawn salad and I had the pork ribs. The food arrived very quickly and it was perfectly prepared and presents. My chips, onion rings and ribs were flavoursome, with the pork falling off the bone. Often, you end up wearing the rib sauce, but not this time. My wife’s salad was richly textured, with halloumi, roasted macadamia nuts and an avocado all included. My dirty chai latte was exquisite. The seating was comfortable and the atmosphere had us parked up for a good while.
