This was my first proper visit to St Kilda Beach, and it turned out to be such a peaceful and beautiful day. I went with a few friends, but honestly, even just walking around solo would’ve been amazing. The beach was really calm and clean—not too crowded, which made it even better for relaxing and just taking in the views.

The city buildings in the background looked so nice from the beach, especially when the sun started getting lower in the sky. You get that perfect mix of nature and city—water in front, skyline behind. I took a bunch of photos (obviously) and they turned out so well. Definitely one of my favourite spots so far in Melbourne.

There’s also a huge park near the beach—really green and peaceful. Big open spaces, palm trees, walking paths. It reminded me a bit of parks back home, just very quiet and perfect for sitting or taking a slow walk. I even found a little spot under a tree where I just chilled for a while, listening to music.

The air was fresh, the sea breeze felt great, and everything was just calm. No traffic noise, no rush—just soft waves and a beautiful view. It honestly felt like a mini holiday without even leaving the city.

If you’re an international student or just new to Melbourne like me, I really recommend checking it out. Great place for photos, good vibes, and a break...

St. Kilda Beach, located just a short distance from Melbourne’s city center, bears a striking resemblance to Santa Monica Beach in Southern California. With its sweeping views of Port Phillip Bay, lively boardwalk, and laid-back vibe, it offers a blend of natural beauty and urban energy. The beach is a popular destination for both locals and tourists, known for its golden sands, vibrant sunsets, and a wide range of recreational activities like kite surfing, paddleboarding, and beach volleyball. Beyond the beach, St. Kilda is home to a lively and diverse community. The area boasts a mix of trendy cafes, eclectic shops, and bustling weekend markets that create a welcoming and artsy atmosphere. Luna Park, with its iconic entrance and historic amusement rides, adds a nostalgic charm. Just a few blocks away, quiet residential streets are lined with charming Victorian houses and leafy parks, perfect for leisurely strolls and moments of calm. Whether you’re looking to relax by the water, explore a dynamic neighborhood, or simply enjoy the coastal lifestyle, St. Kilda Beach offers a little bit of everything—much like its Southern Californian counterpart. It’s a place where vibrant culture meets seaside serenity, making it a must-visit spot in Melbourne.

I came to St Kilda Beach around 2 PM with a friend from uni — and even though it was my second time here, it felt like the first. There’s something about this place that instantly slows you down. The cold winter air, the quiet beach, the open view of the ocean — it makes you stop and breathe. Unlike when I visited in December (when it was packed and full of wild energy), this time it was calm. Peaceful. Almost therapeutic. We walked slowly, clicked some photos, had deep chats, and just existed for a while. I noticed people walking alone with their headphones in, some listening to audiobooks, others jogging or just watching the waves. It made me realize — everyone here was doing something to reconnect with themselves. To relax. To think. That’s what I love about this place: it’s more than just a beach. It’s a reminder to pause. A place where you can let go of the pressure, the deadlines, the overthinking. Even in silence, it feels like the sea is talking to you. Whether you’re with a friend or alone, St Kilda Beach is the perfect spot to reflect, reset, and feel human again. Highly recommend coming here in winter if you want peace — no crowd, no noise, just the sound of the waves and your thoughts.
