Sharing an experience here on the 31. December-Due to other places all booked out during new years eve, we saw this restaurant having some vacancies so we walked in to have a quick dinner.
The first thing was when we entered. We were blatantly ignored by whom looked like the owner, as well as another staff member, which both ignored us for approximately 15 minutes. The owner keeps saying that it won't be long, whilst new Turkish customers walks in and bud in front of the line without any issues.
After the initial 15 minutes, my friend had to literally stop the staff member which was just wondering around the bar/reception desk in the first place, to ask whether we can sit down at the vacancy seats. She gave us the 69$ per person new years eve menu and told us whether it is okay. Whether the menu is worth it or not for the price is subjective to personal perspective, however we wanted an a la carte menu instead. She said she can't find it and asked us to wait again, whilst she wondered around the bar again for the next 20 minutes.
She came back after 20 minutes, again asked us whether the 69$ menu was okay and we told her again, that we wanted to order a la carte.
An hour has passed, and we were finally given the a la carte menu, with 3 items on the list. 30$ each. We asked whether we could sit down at the place where there is no smoke, they told us that it's only for families, and were asked us, one whom have asthma, to sit with the smokers.
We ordered the food at the front in order to quickly get it done. Then they got the order wrong and sent it to other customer with similar ethnicity background. I am not going to say it's ignorance but judge it however you want.
The food finally, was tasteless, and bland. Not to mention the quantity is small. The kebab also uses fake processed meat instead of lamb steaks or any cuts. Which makes me wonder why didn't we just go to a kebab stand in the first place for a fraction of the price and much better quality and quantity in general.
As a result, it's very disappointing, but for most it's the service that is seriously abysmal. This isn't Europe where you're so overwhelmed with customers in a tourist heavy zone that you had no time rest. There is no excuses for the state of the customer service and...
Read moreI purchased a voucher through scoopon for 4 people, and was very disappointed with the seafood platter that was offered in the voucher (false/misleading advertising).
It was nothing like what the voucher said. "Voucher valid for a dips platter per couple, a seafood platter per couple, and a glass of house wine per person"
All we got was dips, and the main was 4 calamari rings on top on a bowl of chips, and a small bowl of red sauce with four mussels, and a four small prawns in it, to share between 4 people!! No fish or scallops given as advertised. To me this is not a seafood platter per couple.
We got a better value for money, by going else where which we did after leaving Achelya. We got four wraps with three meats in it for $12-90 each, we would have been better off not going there at all, as it cost us an Uber fare to get there, and $26-00 for the 3 beers.
This was not a seafood platter as advertised. For four people we got four calamari rings, and four muscles, to be shared between 4 people (so we got one each!). With regards to the prawns we got one small prawn per person. This was not a seafood platter and I was so embarrassed to have brought my guests here. We were starving so ate else where once we left. Owner has not acknowledged this, showing very poor integrity/lack of...
Read morePurchased a 2 person Groupon for my husband and I but booked for 3 as we have a child- the rude lady whom answered told me I had to buy another voucher if we wanted our Child to come- advised her that we would be buying our child something at the restaurant- was told we would have to buy a meal off the menu if I was booking for another person. Stated again we would be purchasing more off the menu- maybe some bread and chips- aparently we were not going to be ordering enough so was told we could only book for 2 people- I asked her if I was walking off the street and wanted to have some chips and dip would she allow me to attend? She would not answer and was very rude.... I ended up hanging up and contacting Groupon to get a refund. Last time we attended here the food was lovely and the staff were nice- having our child was not an issue and we purchased some extra Turkish bread, some chips and a few more drinks above and beyond what voucher we had. No need to treat customers this way. I had recommended this place to friends of mine who were keen to go- since sharing my recent experience no one I know will be...
