Docklands Lotus Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Melbourne

The only reason it gets one star is so l can write this review . This was definitely the worst dining experience l have ever witnessed ! 7 of us dined and our meals come out 20 min apart . No rice come out with our mains , this arrived after nearly 2 hours from when we sat down . A couple of entrees never even arrived . Dishes were brought to us which weren't ours . To sum this up , after just over 2 hours of sitting , one of my kids got no mains , my wife got no entree and no rice . All our meals went cold waiting for our rice . 2 of the entrees were cold because we watched them take our meals to the wrong table then back to the kitchen . Even after telling the waiter it still took 30 mins to finally get to us cold . This is after approaching the manager 3-4 times over the night . We noticed 23 other tables of peaple just get up and walk straight out due to the service . Diners constantly at the counter complaining . The only diners which was really obvious to us that seemed to be getting all there meals were chinese .Then the Manager had the balls to try and charge us for this disgrace . I went there for the Chinese New Year’s Eve ~ We arrived before the booking time and still need to wait. ( I could understand) however, we wait more than 10-15 mins for the seats after our booking time.

Then when we all set, we are waiting the menu! And asking did the ice bucket for our drink. When we got the ice bucket.. yay .. we just had a bucket… without Ice-cube ! 😂😂😂

For the food, we ordered 4 dishes and a big bowl feast !! The 4 dishes … only the roasted duck is just okay, other food were plain taste, especially the salt and pepper tofu we ordered ! The beef was so so, same as the veggie ! The big bowl feast was 268 dollars, and it was totally different from their Instagram picture! I knew they might have some different … but that was totally different !! I have pictures for that ! After the meal, we were just feeling so wasting money for that big feast thing !!

Cookery skills are nowhere close to cantonese style. More of upper China's provinces. Beef meats over put too much soda powder that made the meat too soft even softer than rice noodle. Ordered beef and black bean. Not only is meat too soft, but the sauce is not even sauce anymore. It's more like oils. Hardly can tasted the black beans' flavour but oils. The fried rice noodle does not have wok hei. Very normal 🔥 cookery. Is just normal stir fried. Special fried rice also lacks wok hei. The rice quality is fine. Not too hard dried nor too wet. Just lack of flavour. Too blandly fried rice. Overall the dishes are not up to Australian Chinese restaurant standard. Definitely not a Chinese cantonese cuisine nor China elite restaurant standard. Too price for this quality. Very disappointing. Should the chef do some studies around more. Is not the right place to be in an area like Docklands...
