I'm leaving a review as I'm over dishonest and underhanded business tactics. I'd ordered from her many times before but after today I won't be back. I want to note, this has happened at this business before but today was the first time I have questioned it. It's a public holiday today, I ordered a $15 menu item adding chilli and was charged $18.24, wasn't sure why but assumed surcharge, wasn't told when ordering there would be one and checked all around inc socials and no mention anywhere of a surcharge. I asked the young girl why the extra charge and she said oh it's because of the surcharge and the chilli oil. Must be some golden oil to warrant a near 22% price increase. I politely said to her that under the Australian consumer rights a business must disclose that they are charging a surcharge and amount of surcharge, and was met with "I know I know but that is what my boss told me" clearly she doesn't know and the second I walked out my Internet banking notified me of a refund for that transaction. I did not request a refund, and would not have questioned a surcharge had they done the right thing in clearly disclosing it. You'll probably read this and be like what's the big deal, the deal is that I do not want to support a disloyal and sneaky business. Perhaps they just pick and choose who to over charge and who not to. Either way, this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth and I will not...

What we had: 🫶🏼 Rueben (a special) 🥵 Chicken Pesto 🤌🏼 Big Beef ✨ Marshmallow & Nutella in a blueberry bagel (please make this permanent) 💖 Tropical Cold Pressed Juice ☕️ Soy Cap & Oat Latte
On the corner of Union road and Athol street in Ascot Vale you’ll find this cute little bagel shop! We tried a selection of their bagels and took a few recommendations from the gorgeous team there. The recommendations we received ended up being our favourite (the Rueben and the chicken pesto)! We hope the Rueben stays on their menu permanently! It was a hit for both of us!
The bagels themselves are almost crispy on the outside (I can’t describe it but it’s amazing) and sooo soft and chewy on the inside. They were divine and definitely my pick over other extremely dense bagels I have tried in Melbourne. The beef one was delicious but probably my least favourite if I had to pick as I would have loved a thinner patty, a smash patty would be chefs kiss.
The dessert bagel paired perfectly with a coffee to finish off and the blueberry bagel was delicious! The coffee was fabulous and the cold pressed juice was SO yum! The interior is very minimalistic and appealing to the eyes, the service was super friendly and I can’t wait to take my partner there...

Bang On Bagels (aka, BOB) is located at the quiet, residential end of Union Road in Moonee Ponds. Opened only a couple of months, here you will find bagels, baked goods, coffee and good vibes.✌🏽
Order to takeaway or they have limited indoor and outdoor seating available. Start with a coffee or pick from their vibrant selection of cold pressed juices. The bagel menu consists of around 9 sandwiches ranging from $10-15, you’ll even find a Doggy Bagel for your furry friends! 🐕
The Rueben was our top pick, it was surprisingly really refreshing with the addition of sauerkraut. The interesting choice of cured beef made it less meaty. The New Yorker definitely gave pepperoni pizza vibes and with the egg and relish, it hit my breaky cravings. 👅
The Zaatar was a good vegetarian option, fresh and creamy. The bagels they use are more on the soft, bready side, similar to a burger bun. I personally prefer mine to be a little more firm and toasted. I would love to see some stronger flavours. 👊🏽
Overall a reliable spot for your local bagel fix. They are clearly killing it, with new locations already on the cards. Up next,...
