Dining at Betty’s Burgers proved to be an indulgent excursion into the world of gourmet fast food, where casual dining intersects with carefully crafted flavours. From the moment the order arrived, it was clear that presentation and attention to detail are held in high regard. Each item was packaged with care, maintaining both structural integrity and freshness, an often-overlooked detail in the realm of takeaway dining.
The signature burger itself was a triumph of balance and restraint. The patty, cooked to tender perfection, possessed a rich, almost buttery succulence that harmonised seamlessly with the freshness of the lettuce and the delicate acidity of the tomato. The house sauce contributed a tangy undertone, elevating the entire composition beyond mere comfort food. What struck me most was the equilibrium between indulgence and refinement—the flavours were bold yet never overpowering, satisfying without tipping into heaviness.
The bun deserves particular commendation. Too often in burger craftsmanship, the bun becomes either soggy or cloyingly dense; Betty’s achieves a rare equilibrium, offering a pillowy softness that absorbs flavour without collapsing. Each bite remained texturally consistent, a testament to their meticulous recipe.
Equally noteworthy were the sides. The chips, golden and crisply fried, carried just enough salt to enhance rather than overshadow their natural potato sweetness. Accompanied by a creamy dipping sauce, they became more than an afterthought—they acted as a complementary partner to the burger’s richness. The onion rings, meanwhile, were encased in a light, crunchy batter that shattered delicately, revealing sweet interiors that melted against the palate.
Even the shakes exemplified indulgence at its most playful. Velvety in texture and unapologetically decadent, they bridged the gap between dessert and beverage. The flavour profile was layered—first a nostalgic sweetness, followed by a lingering creaminess that coaxed one into sipping long after satiety had been reached.
Overall, Betty’s Burgers offered an experience that exceeded the pedestrian expectations of fast-casual dining. It combined artisanal attention to flavour with the comforting familiarity of a classic burger joint. While the meal was undeniably rich, it managed to avoid the common pitfalls of greasiness or monotony. Instead, it provided an encounter that was indulgent yet surprisingly refined—a reminder that simplicity, when executed with precision, can be a...
Read moreMy partner and I came here for the first time for an 'international burger day' deal they were running. It had been raining and the floors were really slippery when wet, I have never been in a restaurant with such slippery floors, so you have to walk around the wet areas as though you're walking on ice. We ordered the classic plant and the basic fried chicken burger (unsure of what it was called), alongside two soft drinks and chips. The classic plant's bun was oily (?) and undertoasted, the coca-cola syrup-to-water ratio was way off and meant the cola tasted odd, and the chips were some of the saltiest I've ever had, they were unfinishable. I also ordered a thickshake which they forgot about, serving customers who ordered after us their thickshakes first and they only started making mine when I went up to the order counter to enquire on where it was after we were already halfway done with our burgers. When I was handed the thickshake the cup was covered in the drink all around the outside in quite a coating which wasn't attempted to be washed off my the employee, getting the drink all over my hands and dripping on the floor until I found some napkins to wipe it down. It overall seemed like there weren't enough staff rostered on, and the staff that were on weren't fully trained (putting way too much salt on the chips or not toasting the burger buns enough, and not knowing the correct measurements to make the correct amount of thickshake). I had never been to a Betty's burgers before but my partner had, and he said that he had never had these issues before at other locations, so it is a staffing issue rather than a recipe issue. I would not recommend anyone go here on a Sunday, because it seems like in an effort to save on employee wages, they don't roster enough well-trained employees on to handle demand, so your food will not be great! This was a very disappointing first Betty's experience and we will not...
Read moreIt is what you'd expect from a gourmet burger place Service was average and OK, but one thing that annoyed me a lot is they asked my guy friend if we were paying together (if he was paying for me). SUPER cringe, like girls can't have guy friends (heck, I could've been the one paying too as a woman, as I often do for my partner) Neither of us have romantic interests in either and I have a dedicated long-term partner. I know they didn't do it intentionally and I saw people give them good reviews below but really shouldn't have assumed in this day and age. Server proceeded to come up to us for a review as per store policy, which is fine, but quite odd and unsettling for me due to the cashier "incident".
I recommend Betty's burgers to check out similar chains in foreign countries because at the same price point, UK gourmet burgers do a lot better with less fresh ingredients. Like others, they took forever to serve my friends burger as well (25 minutes)
I also guess I definitely won't be coming back as the server I had apparently is already the best one with all the...
