this was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had....... sitting in a low candlelit room sets the mood for a fantastic experience to come, served by lovely warm-hearted staff who don't rush you to make choices. when I mentioned I was dairy intolerant it was no fuss at all, the fantastic chef catered to my needs and made changed to the menu that allowed me to have a fantastic meal with no stress of feeling sick in a few hours time. the food overall was the most amazing, perfectly cooked, dream worthy food I've ever had. when it was time for sweets the menu only offed dairy filled options but the chef once again went out of his way to make me a delicious fruity delight topped with candles and a sparkler for my partner as he was the reason we were having this fantastic meal to celebrate his 25th birthday. the chef himself left the kitchen to have a chat with us about what changes he made for our meals and how he came up with the ideas, he was ready for any and every question i had. at the end of our night, I went to the till to pay the bill and I was expecting a pricey price tag to come my way but I was proven wrong, for 2 fantastic mains, 1 non-alcoholic drink, 4 alcoholic drinks and a not on the menu dessert it was a surprisingly low bill, all totaling to under $115.
I cannot express enough how amazing BLUE TONGUE WINE BAR is. I definitely will be returning more...
Read moreWe were regular weekly customers here for over 8 years. Only went for the drinks as food is average. Had an incident where a dog jumped all over us and was licking and knawing on my leg. Asked the owner of the dog very politely to put it on a lead which is legally required and should have been enforced by the blue tongue, however, the owner was extremely rude to us about it and personally attacked myself and my husband so my husband retaliated and the incident verbally escalated. We ended up leaving the Blue tongue and walking away but this never should have escalated to the point it did. I have a dog and have nothing against them but the Blue tongue legally isn’t allowed to allow dogs off lead in an area where there is food being served (especially when the dog is jumping on people). We didn’t call the council as we thought we were loyal customers. The manager handled this situation very poorly and has never been very friendly. Recently we were told when we went back after 6 months only as it’s local to us (we hadn’t been back as we were very disappointed in the way the blue tongue handled the incident considering they could be fined for this) and told we should leave due to the altercation that happened months before even though legally we were not...
Read moreFirst experience 3 weeks ago was magnificent. The gnocchi lamb burnt Sage and the prawn risotto were fantastic. Unfortunately last night was a totally different experience. When perusing the menu we were advised that the fish and the pheasant were not available. So we ordered the same as our first visit. I was then told that they were also out of lamb. My partner ordered the risotto. I wasn't keen on eating steak, so asked if the chef had any chicken meals. They said they would prepare something. My partners prawn risotto came out looking like a tiny serving of runny baby food minus the prawns..($25).we were then told the prawns were pureed in the risotto. This dish looked nothing like the same dish he had 3 weeks ago. It was taken away and he ordered the crab pasta. Which was tough and sitting in broth. He couldn't eat it. My chicken was average, 2 tiny drumsticks and 1 small thigh, with a few pieces of broccoli and green beans in a broth, but they charged us $45 for it. When we complained the waitress was rude and insulting. Saying that everyone else likes our food and where else can you get drinks and food for $136. We left this place disgusted. We are both local and will never go back there. Such a shame because this was actually our...
