Ordered from Burgertory tonight after seeing and hearing great things. Checked out the menu and ordered for pickup online. Menu looked AMAZING, and really had my hopes up high.
Went to pick up the order and they didn’t have the baklava we ordered, so they offered us two of the loaded cookies. No biggie, but should have said sold out on the site.
Forgot to mention, when we walked into the store, vibes were quite off. Staff looked a bit unimpressed that we had come in to collect the order. Again, no biggie, but does leave a bit of a bad taste in the consumer mouth.
Came home and unpacked. Chippies and onion rings were the best part by FAR. Although, super rich. Snacked on them in the car on the way home to build up hype for the main event.
Cut to the burgers.
I ordered Gabriel, a their vegetarian burger w added Avocado, and my partner ordered Gluttony.
Gluttony wasn’t anything too special. The burger bun colours and very descriptive menu and ingredients list fail to mention it was, indeed, “mid”. More marketing than anything else. Nothing made it stand out, and my partner and I both agreed Grill’d probably makes better burgers at a competitive price point. (We both wholeheartedly don’t support grill’d as a result of unfair treatment of staff #Grilldunhealthywages)
Then the Gabriel. Yet again very MID, but by far the most disappointing aspect was the fact there was no avo!!! The avo add-on was $3?!?? And I was so excited to get this mint burger from a place i’ve been wanting to try for so long, and this was just sad. Moreover, the slaw in the burger didn’t really have a description so i figured it would be one of two options; a pickled slaw or a creamy slaw. It was neither. Literally just shredded cabbage and carrot w some capers. After pulling apart the burger to find the avo, there was a smear of what could be described as some sort of sauce. Honestly no idea what it was, but it looked like someone put sauce on the burger bun then tried to scrape it off.
I’m really not one to get bothered by this stuff. I have worked and do continue to work in the hospitality industry so I get it if there was a new employee or someone in training. But on the docket we received stapled to the bag, everything was ticked off as if they had checked to make sure they included everything in our order.
I assume burgertory spends a lot of effort in maintaining their physical presence and marketing as I must admit it is very well done. However, still deceptive when it comes to their goods and services.
Still on the hunt for a good burger...
Read moreI've had food from here twice, once in person, and once for delivery.
In person was great, delivery not so much.
In person: Pride burger+vegan cheese+bacon and chips - staff were super helpful accommodating with regard to my dietary requirements (lactose intolerance) and checked each of the ingredients I asked about whether it contained dairy or not, and swapped out the milk bun for a dairy free one. Food was cooked perfectly. Chips were crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I liked that they had a hand washing station in store, although the music was a bit loud for my tastes.
Delivery: Sloth burger+bacon with salt and vinegar chips - look, sometimes you just have A Day, and need to eat some real cheese on a burger, damn the consequences on your stomach. So I was very disappointed to find that the cheese had basically been burnt onto my burger patty :( the burger felt kinda rushed, though I don't know if it was rushing or it getting tossed around during delivery. The chips smelled strongly of salt and vinegar but only some times tasted of it, and they were soft - fair enough, it's delivery and can't blame that on the store. The burger itself was still somewhat enjoyable, and to be blunt, even with burnt cheese, it's simply superior to Maccas, the only other burger joint open late around here.
So my recommendation would be absolutely come here, the burgers are great, but maybe avoid late nights. Or maybe it's delivery. Or specifically late night delivery.
I'd normally drive out for pick up but wasn't able to this this time.
Oh and get the bacon as an add on. It tastes...
Read moreSo 1 month later after being asked for my phone number so your manager could reach out to me as you said and I still haven’t received a phone call. Poor service indeed. Most food places would offer some sort of compensation in replacement meals after the meals I received were not up to standard but not this store.
I came in tonight just before 6 pm and spent $73. I got home with our food which was a kid’s meal, 1 Pride burger, 2 Lust burgers, onion rings and waffle fries. I thought my granddaughter’s burger was mine which looked quite full. I found all our adult burgers had basically a 1 centimetre thick chicken patty which all were around 2/3 the size of the bun with a flat finish when in the past the patty was overflowing to the outside of the bun, nice crispy outer and around 2 1/2 cm think. I was disgusted. My granddaughter loves her fries but wouldn’t eat them after trying one so her mum and I tried them and they tasted stale and similar to frozen supermarket fries. I love your onion rings but the ones I got tasted like salt and vinegar flavor which was overwhelming, making me cough. I’ve never had them taste like that. As pleasant as the girl taking our order was I was annoyed with her constantly trying to get us extras or full meals. I guess she is trained to do that so I don’t hold it against her. I’m very disappointed with tonight’s meal. First time it’s been like this. Is this cost-cutting like many others are doing? I will think...
