I gave a point for the coffee only, the food was not up to par considering there are so many good cafes in the area, I was shocked at the quality of the food. We ordered pancakes with Nutella and the Rustico big breakfast with extra hash brown. I finished my large mug of cappuccino before the food arrived, it was a long wait. The hash browns were over fried that the potato disintegrated I couldnât finish it as it was so dry. The pancakes were so thick it seems as though a cake batter was used, tasteless and dry, they were served with one sad strawberry on the plate and plain Nutella poured on top of the stack. Had one forkful and didnât touch the rest. We ate most of the savoury dish as we were hungry, but honestly I can cook much better at home. For the service, the owner/chef was not warm and friendly at all, gave me odd looks before we even sat down but the barista was helpful and friendly. When I paid I told them why we didnât eat the pancakes and all I received was âoh really?â No apologies and the owner just stared at me. I noticed that a lot of customers ordered only coffees and whatever was on the counter like croissants or banana bread, now I know whyâŚ..the cooked food was a big disappointment. Most of the cafes around Preston/Reservoir have been consistently great, unfortunately Rustico was not one of them. They really need to review their service and quality of food if they want to stay in business, good coffee alone will not be enough to keep...
Read moreHate giving a poor review to a small business but generally confused how this place has a 4.7 rating on Google Maps. Decided to pop in for breakfast with my family and whilst the coffee was acceptable the food left much to be desired. The croissant was served flattened and oily, the hash brown just tasted of fried bread crumbs and no potato, and the Salmon Eggs Benedict was served with the salmon fried to a crisp and the home made Hollandaise sauce clumpy and extremely salty. On a good note the service was good and the toilet was clean. Recommend this Cafe if you are only...
Read moreDelicious coffee and proper breaky. The google reviews don't lie. I take my breakfasting seriously (nothing worse than a breakfast wasted on sub-par food or coffee) and this place didn't disappoint. Loved the ambience too. With conservation-friendly background music, wafting smell of beans and the occasional spurt of steam, grinder or crockery clacking to remind you that they take their coffee seriously. But also caters for on-the-go orders. My biggest regret... Not taking a foodie picture for you all before I...
