Read moreOrdered a spicy cold noodles for $20 based on the image in the menu. When the dish arrived, we noticed that there was no meat unlike the image shown. When we questioned the waitress about it, she said that the dish was served without meat. When I showed her the image on the menu, she referred me to another staff member.
The second staff member asked how he could helped me leading me to repeat my issue that I had just explained to the waitress. He then explained that they used to have meat served with the dish, didn't have any right now, but will be serving it again with meat in the future. I responded that was all well from their end but it doesn't quite resolve the lack of meat in my dish at the moment.
He then provided an anecdotal explanation that most customers usually order the cold noodles dish together with their bbq order and would use the meat from the bbq so didn't usually ask about the meat.
Again I reiterated that that's all good from their end but did not quite resolve the lack of meat in my dish. He again protested that they didn't have any suitable meat for the dish to provide. I then queried if they had any bbq meat that he had suggested that other customers ate with the cold noodles. He confirmed that they did. I then queried if it was possible for them to provide that bbq meat instead. He then agreed to.
While the broth of the cold noodles was quite good and the noodles were typically chewy, I personally find it distasteful that a restaurant would serve a dish without a major ingredient that it had advertised, hope that the customer doesn't notice, attempt to deflect when questioned about it and then begrudgingly provide a solution that the customer has to propose.
Add to that the slightly higher prices than the many Korean restaurants in the city and it makes me reluctant to recommend or return to...

The atmosphere of the place was serene with beautiful autumn colours and displays of Korean words and culture which I enjoyed. Inside the tables are set up on the outer edges of the room so there’s walking space in the middle along with two tables outside the restaurant for outdoor dining.
However, with it being my first experience at Chingu, I did wish that it was a better experience. My friend and I spent a few minutes waiting for the menu after we sat outside and once an order was made the service wasn’t sure which table we sat out of those two tables, I got the drink but I didn’t get my food (Bibimbap). I waited for 35-40 minutes with no answer so we went and inquired about the meal with a bit of miscommunication from my friend to the service. I soon found out that the food order didn’t come through and that the chef voided the order due to the table mishap. I told the management that I understood the pressure with this being their first week but being seated outside and not commonly checked after didn’t make me feel respected as a customer.
They allowed the drink to be free and allowed me to move inside once tables were free and apologetically made my meal and it came all in a span of 10 minutes. The meal was heated nicely and tasted well, I do wish they supplied the chilli sauce on the side. Edit: I have been back two times ever since the first and the service has improved significantly. Hope it goes well from there. I will adjust the stars from this post.
Original Post: 2 star review They were apologetic and took accountability for the mishap. I happily paid for the meal as my show of empathy and support.
I will come again to try their other meals but I do hope the service improves overtime and wish them all the best...
