Corner & Bench — Restaurant in Melbourne

I have been going to Corner and Bench for a bit over a year at the rate of 3 or 4 times a week and I love it. I regard them as one of Melbourne's best cafes. They are friendly, courteous, precise, caring, and walking in the door makes me feel like I am among friends. Their coffee is great, and breakfast combinations I have had include the salmon bagels, the chicken sandwiches, and the croissants all of which are great. The lunchtime salads are particularly great. Fresh, colourful, tasty ! I think I have now had all of them multiple times and they are perfect ! The fresh home made juices are also really spectacular. I like the green juice, jungle juice and orange but the one I am addicted to is their Pineapple which I find incredibly good. The staff are really nice people. Courteous, warm, friendly and precise. The company I worked for is in decline so due to a lack of customers I lost my job just recently. What I will miss most is probably grabbing a snack or coffee at Corner and Bench. Reviewing employment aspect. A week ago I visited corner and bench to hand in my CV and the owner informed she would contact me for a trial the next day. I extended my stay in Melbourne (which is very costly for me to spend my savings that i worked very to obtain). Never heard from the owner, I visited in person a week later again only for the staff to inform they’ve hired new staff and not looking anymore. I was basically told to go away cos they were busy and come back at a quieter time. I visited a couple of days later and the owner apologised very insincerely and basically had the mannerism of wanting me to leave and leave her alone as if she had done nothing. She showed zero empathy and got defensive. I left feeling less of a human being and completely disrespected . So I leave this review to encourage business to be more respectful of their applicants who are human beings and deserve a clear ‘yes’ or ‘no’. (Also as a form of comeuppance). I can't recommend Corner & Bench anymore and here's why: Inconsistent portions for the same product. I love the salads here, they taste delicious 😋 and are super fresh. Stick to those and the service is lightning ⚡ quick too ( don't get me started on the line to order , we will be here from years. Safe to say it's chaotic at best ).

But it all falls over depending on who doses out your salad. The photos below 👇 are of the same dish on different days. It makes me sad when I get handed my salad and it's "light".

My issue may be isolated - hear me out. I get a large salad ( choice of 3 salads ) but I only ever like two of the salads on offer.

I pay for the large, I get the large container but sometimes I only get enough salad for a small ( choice of 2 salads ). Maybe it's muscle 💪 memory or a training thing?

I know what your thinking 🤔 maybe I was just lucky and now I'm getting the normal size? But I have compared with others and they have had similar experiences.
