I want to give this restaurant another try. Decca, for me, has the potential to become a firm favourite but my experience this evening was marred by a series of occurrences that could have been avoided with a bit of forward planning from the management in terms of having adequate staff on the floor & in the kitchen and ensuring their supplies were sufficient to cater for a very full restaurant. Surely the number of persons on the tables reserved would have been a clear indication that perhaps a rather challenging evening may lay ahead… Unfortunately on the night my fairly large group chose to dine here, the restaurant had a private function for 30+ people. On a week / work night we booked at 6:30 so we could have an early evening. Our pre meal drinks took forever to arrive and we managed to down several bottles of wine before we saw any food. We didn’t seem to have any specific wait staff to take our orders and it had appeared that we had met most of them during the course of the evening. They were pleasant & friendly enough but as the evening wore on, they appeared under pressure and needed to keep making apologies to us. We ordered our entrees & mains. After a long wait our entrees arrived. In the mean time we were informed several of our main orders had run out. Some of our group had to make second & even third alternate choices because more dishes became unavailable. This extended the entree to main service to well over an hour… By this stage the main restaurant had filled up considerably. The food rated on my choices, was quite enjoyable despite arriving ‘just warm’ and not hot. For entree l had the crisp prawns in betel leaves. The leaves were coated in a light & crisp tempura batter and filled with a tasty filling of which l could not discern as containing any prawn. A light soy based sauce was served to dip into. For main l enjoyed a tender crumbed veal cutlet topped with rocket & parmesan. This was the dish that caused much consternation on my table as six of my group ordered it but only one serve was allocated to our table. My gracious friends nominated me to be the lucky recipient of the single available cutlet. It was later noted that a large quantity of the dish made its way to the private dining area. For dessert l shared the baked chocolate pudding & vanilla ice cream for two. It was okay but l wasn’t particularly enthused by it. My fellow diners seemed to enjoy their meals without complaint other than having to make alternate choices and the long wait. After making several of our grievances known, part of our drinks orders were comped as were two mains. I will return but hopefully on not such...
Read moreAn absolute gem! We had an incredible dining experience at Decca. The gorgeous decor sets the perfect vibe, and the food? Next level. Every dish we had was thoughtfully prepared and bursting with flavor.
We started with the Cacio e Pepe arancini—so cheesy in the best way, followed by Garlic King Prawns with capers, lemon, and thyme served with sourdough to soak up all that lemony goodness. The Calamari Fritti was one of the best I’ve had—crispy, tender, and that saffron aioli? I would bathe in it.
The main special of spinner crab and cherry tomato spaghetti was a standout—perfectly cooked pasta, fresh and vibrant. Fingers crossed they keep it on the menu! The veal ravioli with amaretti and sage butter was a flavor bomb—the amaretti crumb added such a unique, game-changing touch. And the Veal Rib Eye Cotoletta? Juicy, tender, and had us fighting over who got the bone!
We ended on a high note with crème brûlée, baked cheesecake, and a chocolate Amarena tart—each one exceptional and incredibly generous servings. Please don’t skip dessert!!
Drinks were also a win—very reasonably priced wines by the glass and delicious cocktails. The staff were warm, welcoming, and it felt like going over to a friends for lunch. All the other tables were filled with laughter and smiles. Our lovely waitstaff helped us plan our next visit before we even left. Parking is easy.
Highly recommend! Decca is the kind of place you will want to return to...
