Edited: Ok now I tried their pork belly dish a few times and it has always been disappointing so definitely steer away from pork belly here. Their lunch special of pork belly and pork bbq was underwhelming in taste and texture.
Tried pork belly dishes as in the past long time ago I heard their pork belly was good. But it wasnt. Tried their lunch specials, pork belly with noodles and stir fry pork belly. Pork belly is tough and not enjoyable. I was surprised they have no chili oil although luckily the noodles came with a bit of sauce. The highlight of the dish was actually the broth that came on the side! Definitely the best broth I ever had, very fragrant and tasty! Stir fry pork belly again wasnt that great because of the pork belly. However their sauce is to die for. I guess the pork belly review I saw was for Dodee in cbd but they should really have the same quality.
Went on a Saturday night, had to wait about 20 mins even though there was no queue in front of us at about 7pm, so yeah it was packed. There was a paper menu but not complete, also no price on it. You have to scan QR code to see the complete menu and price. I used to go to the cbd branch. This is first time in Box Hill branch. They are obviously doing well because compared to other restaurants next to it, Dodee was full and had queue while other restaurants had tables empty. I think the menu was smaller compared to cbd. I noticed not as many noodles choices, and usually you can choose spiciness level, but here they just name the noodles differently according to spiciness level. Still very nice taste just like cbd one. Red curry was...
Read moreThe WORST “mango sticky rice” I have EVER eaten…horrifyingly bad.
I collected this order in-person. I saw the treats in the fridge at the storefront, and asked for a serving of mango sticky rice. The manager reached for a fridge the counter and bagged up a serving of it: but it looked completely different. The rice was not blue & varied like the one in the front.
He reassured me that it was exactly the same - the blue was simply food colouring. I accepted, and left with my order.
Excited to eat and celebrate our anniversary, my partner and I devoured the red curry and Tom yum prawn soup dishes. Well made.
However when my partner excitedly served the dessert, she asked me “are you sure this okay to eat?”.
I dropped my spoon and checked the dessert. To my astonishment, the rice was in 1 giant clump and rock hard. Not sticky rice at all - it was HARD AS A ROCK. Very difficult to seperate with a spoon. In-fact, when the rice has a crunchy texture….that happens when rice is VERY stale and too old to be eaten….
This is not food safe… this is not worth $15.90…. This is not even safe my for dog to eat.
Why are you serving this terrible dessert? And also, showing fresh, beautiful dessert in front fridge, but give customer old stale horrible version? This is misleading.
Very bad business practice, the oldest trick the book of hospitality.
You have lost a very loyal customer. Fool me once, shame on you. You won’t fool me twice,...
Read moreI have been a regular customer at Dodee Paidang in Box Hill for quite some time, usually for dinner. Recently, I visited for lunch and ordered their lunch special, which included a noodle dish and a chicken stir-fry with basil. After placing my order through the QR code, I noticed there was no option to select the spice level, which is quite a fundamental request in a Thai restaurant. I immediately approached the counter to ask if they could make the dish mild, as one of us can’t handle spicy food. The staff member, Bew, who is apparently the manager, informed me in a rather curt manner that they would not make any changes to the dish, regardless of how simple the request was. I even asked if the dishes were made in bulk, but was told they are made individually. Despite this, they still refused to accommodate the request. It was particularly disappointing since the restaurant was not even busy at the time, with only about half the tables occupied. While the food itself was great, as usual, my friend couldn’t finish his dish at all because it was too spicy. Overall, the interaction with Bew felt rude and unaccommodating, and it really didn’t reflect the warm hospitality I expect from a...
