The place to come for that little bit of everything. On a different route to work I found this glorious little place and if Iād had more time I wouldāve stopped for a cuppa. Nestled in leafy East Melbourne, this is an old time store that stocks just about everything you do need and might need. Wine seems to be popular here but also Turkish delight, croissants, frozen food, vegemite, dry cleaning, teabags, next to, fresh bread, feather dusters and pretty much most things. The lovely Carly chatted to me about the place that has been here for nearly 30 years and has a regular, local following. Two large couches out the front surrounded by books and toys invite you onto the covered area, with succulents and plants giving it a homely feel - as though youāre sitting with a neighbour on their front porch. It is a place that you can only appreciate if you visit so hop along and check it out. Will take many of you back down...

Being someone who is not originally from the city, this personable approach to their service always make me feel right at home - no pretence or fluff. Just good people serving the local community. Unfortunately I think my predecessor has some basic education to complete in Economics, if he thinks a small business (i.e. a General Store) can compete with the buying power of the biggest supermarket chains in the country. Harry clearly has some deep-seeded (potentially iso related) issues, but as a regular (rather than some angry blow in) to the East Melbourne General Store I can verify that the staff, owner and coffee have always been exceedingly pleasant...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been to this store multiple times. It has a retro feeling to it with a healthy sandwich bar and excellent coffee. They pride on great quality grocery items and promote a lot of products from small businesses from the state. The staff are very helpful and friendly and love a good chat. Lisette, the very sweet and friendly owner has groomed them and taught them well. PS: Love the plants at the front. Canāt wait for COVID to end so I can sit outside basking in the sun and have a sandwich...
