Tadka Hut — Restaurant in Melbourne

I thought I might revisit this local restaurant to see if it had improved (as I genuinely enjoy the cooking even if the service is amateurish). What a disaster: firstly I was told by the young waitress (student?) that I couldn’t sit at my normal table (even though the restaurant was nearly empty) and was directed to a tiny table. Next I was waiting for the complimentary papadams to arrive but tonight was a night that they decided not to be generous. Then they bought me a cold plate (obviously they ignored a previous review) which I expect they thought I could transfer the dishes (also delivered on cold plates) to on arrival. Finally, my tandoori chicken dish arrived, tasty at first bite until I got further into the chicken pieces to find them cold and barely thawed. I ordered food from here twice now, via doordash. You wont find 'Tadka Hut' on Doordash, as they use '$6 Curries' to draw you in. My first order constituted of 2 packs. Each pack had half curry, half rice & a naan. I also ordered Gulab Jamun as a dessert.

Over the next 2 days, following that meal - I was sick, which honestly - wasn't good as I was back at work.

The curries themselves weren't bad, but I was sick for 2 days because of one of them. The portion sizes for the price wasn't bad, but the quality of the food wasn't great. I guess you get what you paid for. The Naan seemed kinda fake, and not freshly made.

The Gulab Jamun were the best ones I've had in awhile. They were soft and made well. Not overly sweet.

Initially I gave them a 3 star, but bumped it up to 4. They lost a star...

Unprofessional and rude staff doesn't know how to deal with the 3rd party Service providers who deliver their orders. One of the chef misbehaved with me in a very rude manner which I felt was really painful and I'm still very disturbed with this sort of behavior and the owner tried to defend the chef by trying to prove me wrong. I would never recommend a positive word of mouth for this restaurant after having such a bad experience with this sort of obnoxious behavior even when a service provider who is trying his best to deliver their food and promote their business.
