When you receive a welcome email two days prior to your arrival at a hotel, you can feel assured that your upcoming stay at your chosen hotel is going to be a good one. And so it has been from the moment we arrived at reception at the Pullman on the Park where we met both Toby and Andy who welcomed us on arrival.
These two wonderfully professional concierges had both emailed to us seeking to make our stay a happy one by seeing if there was anything we might need to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
From the early check in to the unexpected but very much appreciated upgrade to room 1414 overlooking Fitzroy Gardens, we knew that this lovely hotel was going to be a favourite any time we might visit Melbourne. We thought our first stay here earlier in the year, was lovely and clearly the high standards of the Pullman has being maintained as we have discovered.
Our room was beautifully located in a corner with views overlooking the Melbourne CBD and across the tree-scape of Fitzroy Gardens. Everything we could have asked for was available along with a welcome message from the manager and a generous gift of a bottle of wine.
We were attending a concert nearby at the Rod Laver arena so chose to dine at the excellent Cliveden restaurant located on the ground floor. Julia our waitress, could not have been more welcoming or accommodating! She was wonderful and assisted us in choosing two excellent meals from the menu. She navigated my wife to all the gluten free options with grace and courtesy.
The executive lounge on the eighteenth floor with sweeping views over Melbourne the gardens and the MCG was very pleasant with an excellent selection of wines and beers along with a very generous selection of canapés. We really enjoyed our time there and found the lounge comfortable and welcoming.
Breakfast in the morning was excellent with a wide range of options and once again the kitchen provides for allergies which was very much appreciated as my wife is a coeliac and felt very well looked after.
In summary, with one final night here at the Pullman Melbourne on the Park to go, we have loved and are loving our stay. We will certainly be returning each time we come to Melbourne. The proximity to public transport both train and tram makes coming to this excellent hotel very straight forward.
Of course it is the staff that makes a good hotel, a wonderful experience and clearly the manager, Glen Erickson and his team have perfected the art of creating an inviting hotel for guests. We did not meet anyone working at the hotel who did not smile and offer a greeting as we passed. A rare experience and one we hope to experience again soon.
Thank you must go to Mardi who so happily greeted us on our departure and hoped we had had a lovely stay. And a wonderful stay it was!

We have just arrived at the end of a period overseas with our last two evenings here at one of our favourite hotel in Melbourne. The last two evenings have been just reinforced our love for this wonderful hotel and the fantastic team who work so hard to make all of us who stay here so comfortable and memorable.
Our room was once again exceptional but for this review we wish to highlight the unbelievable service and kindness of all the staff who cared for us so wonderfully in the executive lounge on the eighteenth floor.
Our thanks to Ariel who met us in our room to make sure we were comfortable and took time to share her stories with us and then to the gracious hostJames, who on our first night went out of his way to ensure that my wife who is a coeliac was properly catered for during the cocktail hour.
To Joanne, Kanokon and Yasara thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness on both nights we were in the lounge. Your smiles, kindness and care of us went way beyond anything we have experienced in the past three months we have been overseas.
It was lovely to catch up with Sri once again at breakfast. She is wonderful! Sadly we missed catching up with...
Read moreWe stayed here for my husband's birthday 20/11/2024because of the accommodation deal including the breakfast buffet, and we paid $45.00 on top of that for parking for one day which was important as we were traveling. Total for one night plus parking was $452.55.
Pro's: ample parking with rego recognition, trams outside and a very short PT travel to Flinders, close to Windsor as we needed to travel there. Received complimentary wine bottle for hubby's birthday with a card. Reception area is spacious.
Con's: we received an email asking with a tick box preferences so we ticked a few things we'd like (nice view, bath tub, one king bed rather than two double beds put together, aircon on) but only got a nice view instead. When we checked it, the 'happy birthday' wish was a passing whisper as we walked away. Room near the front door and the actual bathroom smelled like poo and remained that way as we realized there were no fans at all. This was uncomfortable as during the shower, the whole room just steamed up. I could hear every everything my hubby did on the toilet. They forgot out toothbrush set so we rummaged to find it in the bathroom before calling room service to get two toothbrushes anad toothpaste. There was a drain in front of the toilet and it had grout so we used a towel to cover the floor because that was yuck. The double bed was uncomfortable to sleep on. The lights in the room were all controlled via a single setting so there was no option for room lights to be off but side lights to be on. There was no bottled water in the fridge (see photo). The aircon was very loud at night so we turned it off to be able to sleep but then got really hot at night so it wasn't a great sleep. Bed side table had sticky stuff on it. The full-length mirror in the room was tinted and was no functional for me as I couldn't put make up on properly or check my face for spots. Had to use the mirror in the bathroom trying to bear with the poo smell (and deodorant was not an option for an asthmatic - see photo). Breakast buffet was so standard it did not feel like a 5 star hotel. Scrambled eggs were grainy, the pastries like croissants tasted 2 days old, coffee was from a coffee machine. You'd think a 5 star hotel would have real coffee and a egg station taking orders as Crown so we were perplexed for the price paid. Also, to see buffet staff just stand around and talk for long periods is really unprofessional again for a "5 star hotel". You don't see this at Crown. The staff were right behind us talking, laughing and having private conversations (this is more of a personal observation than a complaint though).
Summary: if you're looking for accommodation that meets business standard, sure. But considering the "5 star" rating and the price we paid, we definitely felt let down. Won't...
Read moreOur stay at the Pullman Melbourne on the Park was primarily chosen for its unbeatable location, a short walk from Rod Laver Arena, making it the perfect base for us to attend the Billie Eilish concert.
The initial welcome was warm and efficient, setting a positive tone for our stay.
However, the room itself didn't quite live up to the expectations that one expects from a 5-star hotel, especially considering the price point. We were surprised to find a rather small room furnished with two double beds rather than that of two king or queen sized options we anticipated. The presentation of the beds also felt a little lacklustre. The bathroom was equally petite, almost comically so in comparison to a surprisingly spacious shower area. I was also disappointed to see noticeable grime in and around the floor drain, and the placement of the toilet paper holder (directly behind the toilet) was a very awkward design oversight. The inclusion of a switchable frosted window between the bathroom and bedroom was, although a novelty was an unsettling feature. On a positive note, the digital control panel for lighting, room service and climate control was a modern and impressive touch.
The breakfast buffet was a standout, offering a fantastic variety of high-quality hot and cold options in a bright and airy dining space. The service during breakfast was also attentive, efficient and friendly.
The hotel's car parking presented some challenges, with very tight and difficult-to-negotiate ramps. While the reception staff were helpful, the concierge service fell a little short of expectations. A lack of knowledge on local Asian restaurants, there was also no valet parking offered or suggested public transport navigation.
While the beds were a bit too firm for my personal preference, the pillows were excellent. However, the choice of shampoo, conditioner and body wash in large (locked) pump packs felt underwhelming and cheap for a hotel of this calibre. I miss the more traditional touches of individual, quality body soaps and mini toiletries.
On a brighter note, both the housekeeping and room service staff were consistently friendly and attentive throughout our stay.
Overall, our experience at the Pullman Melbourne on the Park was a bit of a mixed bag. While the location was undeniably perfect for our concert attendance and certain aspects like the breakfast and digital features impressed, the shortcomings in the room quality and concierge service suggest that there's still room for improvement to truly warrant a consistent 5-star rating. It’ an...
