Elgin Inn Hotel — Restaurant in Melbourne

Firstly, I don't do one-off reviews. if I write about a place I've been there at least twice, probably more. Elgin Inn is a pub, and you're getting pub-grub. What stands it out is the ambience, the quality of the food and the excellent service. You can enjoy the sports bar area with the numerous screens showing numerous sports, or the more private dining area or in summer the rooftop tables area. Great. The food is better than your standard pub fare, it's well prepared there's a very good range (try the crying Caesar Pizza or the 350gm Black Angus rump! ) and it's delicious. what stands out is the service. Excellent. Very helpful, very cheerful staff whose focus is to make you enjoy your stay. (Hope you get Anna - she's a beaut.) Without exception every time I'm in Hawthorn, I stop in to the Elgin Inn. Not only are the staff consistently amazing, Anna has been here each time. Her constancy and huge smile is welcoming like being with family. Jamie at the counter is the best as well. His friendliness, energy and nothing is too much trouble. Not to mention the food - the best there is in this category. I had the battered barramundi and the fish was perfect. Batter light crispy fish tastes fresh.
