Grand Hotel Healesville - The Local — Restaurant in Melbourne

DON'T BOOK HERE, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!!!! This has probably the worst experience I've ever had with a "hotel". The shared bathrooms looked disgusting, were full of beer and dirty. The staff was not only unfriendly but promised us a refund for a room that we cancelled when we got there because it was as charming as a jail cell (we had a child with us, the photos they use on their website must be at least 10 years old) and the party downstairs was still going strong at 9pm and I couldn't even lock the door nor let my child go to the toilet by himself. They wouldn't give us a refund which I think is outrageous considering we had a child with us but promised they refund if one of the rooms gets booked. We were tired and surrendered to the fact that we will have to sleep in this dive but then got stopped at the staircase because someone just booked one of our rooms. We were standing next to that person whilst that booking was in process. Our room only needed to be checked for him to check in. A refund request for one room was written down yet one week later we received nothing. Like nothing at all. Not even a phone call let alone money. I called them today and talked with another unfriendly staff member when I was notified that our room wasn't booked and that there were other rooms available on that night. Bulls*! You guys should really overthink your business model and take "childfriendly" down from every booking page. We ended up staying somewhere else (thank god) and had a lovely time but I am gutted about every penny that we left at this "hotel". I have always wanted to eat at this grand old lady but unfortunately my experience was disappointing. My husband and I were welcomed, order taken and mains delivered very promptly. After that it all went pear shaped. The main course was tasty and we looked forward to our desserts. After 30 minutes of waiting my husband approached the waitress and asked her to check on our order. At this stage the dining room only had 2 other tables filled, a total of 9 people including us. After patiently waiting another nearly 10 minutes during which time the waitress had not returned with either our desserts or an update, my husband again approached the order desk to inquire about progress. It turned out our order had been delivered to the dining room, to the wrong table, and the patrons at that table had accepted the desserts and ate them!! When our replacement desserts finally arrived it was clearly obvious that my apple and rhubarb crumble had been zapped in the microwave for far too long as it was mouth searingly hot and the “crumble” was a soggy goopy mess. The rhubarb appeared to be missing in action and although the menu quoted butterscotch ice cream to accompany the crumble what I received was vanilla. All in all a very disappointing end to what was expected to be an enjoyable experience. I understand mistakes happen in hospitality but this was a fundamental error by the waitress in giving the desserts to the wrong table and when asked about the missing dishes, I did not feel that the staff gave adequate attention to...
