Greenwich Deli — Restaurant in Melbourne

I’m sad to say that my recent experiences at this cafe have been disappointing. This was once a beloved local spot, built with so much care by two lovely locals who really put their hearts into it. Unfortunately, since the change in ownership, things seem to have taken a turn.

On multiple occasions, I’ve arrived just 15–30 minutes before closing, only to find the coffee machine turned off and staff unable to make coffees. This has been incredibly frustrating, especially in a cafe that has been such a fixture for the local community.

From what I’ve seen over the past few months, there have been several other negative reviews regarding service. It feels like the cafe may need to be more mindful of the expectations of the locals in this charming pocket of Newport, many of whom have supported this cafe for years.

I hope the new owners can take this feedback on board and work towards creating a friendlier, more consistent experience that honors the community that helped build this...

I hope Greenwich Deli is ready for an almighty surge in patronage, they’re likely to experience a bull market not entirely dissimilar to a Reaganomics era boom after this reccomendation (similar in growth, dissimilar in business ethics and transparency). Like a Kardashian/Jenner post on social, this Google review may or may not have wider international implications. If you can’t afford to get there, make sure you vote, be the change you want to see in the world.

As of October 2024, the bacon and egg roll at Greenwich Deli is hands down the best bacon and egg roll from North Melbourne to Williamstown. Twelve bucks, get real! How are they even making money off that?!

Coffee was great too. Though the barista seemed like they were in a bit of a bad mood, but I think that might have been on account of dropping their phone in the toilet, an assumption based purely on the presence of a glad bag full of rice sitting on...

Hey what's going on with this place? I've been coming here for ages, since like 2023 when I moved to the neighbourhood and it has been a great spot for me and my bubs to come to. Things have gone crazy awry lately! I thought it was a once off but every time I go back something else goes wrong! The coffee is the same as it ever was I guess, but the food has taken a dive, half the time there's never available the thing I want! All the faces are different which is fine but now everything just feels off. Everytime I go they have run out of some coffee or some milk or the sandwich I want.
