The Backyard Est 2016 — Restaurant in Melbourne

My recent visit to this restaurant was quite disappointing. I walked in with a coffee in my hands and placed my food order at the counter and sat at the table waiting for my food. To my surprise, a waitress approached me and asked if I can change my table to a corner. I said I’m ok here, but she went as far as threatening to discard my coffee if I didn't comply, saying ‘otherwise we will have to bin your coffee’ I was shocked.

In an attempt to address the situation, I spoke with the person in charge or maybe the owner, who displayed a notable lack of professionalism and courtesy, emphasizing that I wasn't a regular customer, and spoke so rudely to me. This was disheartening.

What was most disconcerting, however, was the fact that they didn't inform me about their policy regarding outside beverages before I placed my food order. It's common courtesy to relay such rules to patrons in advance. This lack of communication and professionalism was a significant letdown.

I usually refrain from leaving reviews, but this experience compelled me to share my thoughts. It's unfortunate that I didn't get to sample their food, as I was so shaken by the encounter that I decided to take my money and leave the premises.

The Google reviews may showcase enticing food pictures, but my personal experience suggests that the quality of service and communication has...

Terrible food service. over an hour wait for toasted sandwiches?

We ordered the most basic food from the menu being 6 toasted sandwiches and it took them over an hour to make and serve. The staff were very dismissive when i brought it to their attention at the 45 min mark that food still hadn't been served and i had two pretty hungry toddlers. They then informed me i had a further 25 min wait for my toasted sandwiches......

Once the sandwiches were served only 5 came out and had to wait a further 10 min for the remaining toasted sandwich to arrive.

Again i brought this to the attention of the staff that it was taking this long to serve the most basic and easy meal and was again dsimissed by staff.

We were charged full price for the toasted sandwiches being around $15+ each. For that service, will not be back.

Also to further note, there were other tables that also ordered the most basic food off the menu and they also waited over an hour to receive their food with pretty hangry kids.

The only positive here was that it is a good place for kids to play, but wow.... they really need to work on their service and maybe invest in another...

We met friends here as it's a great spot for the kids to play. The service was awful. We've been before and not had such problems, so maybe an off day. The food didn't come out together, we had to ask 2x if meals were coming. At one point there was no one else there, we were waiting on a toastie asked 2x. Drinks and food were just placed on the table infront of the nearest person, no description of what it was or any attempt to give it to the right person, wakt staff juat dropped and walked off. They Tried to clear unfinished plates of the kids without checking if we were done and and while adults were still eating, but left empty coffee cups on the table. The food was delicious, but the service has us questioning if we'd go back. Too many little things that = a...
