We visited Gujjus for my birthday dinner ( not a good decision), we ordered a gujarati thali and Kathyawadi thali. For the gujarati thali we got undiyo, rajma and cabbage and potato curry and for the Kathyawadi we got surati undiyo, papad curry and rajma. For farsam we got really oily and burnt daal wada by no means it was a wada and i could feel the oil sogged wada.
We were served roti and thepla cold and taste was average also for the kathyawadi thali they didn’t serve rotla. Once we were served roti and thepla for the second time we were asked if we want rice or khichadi and we opted for khichadi. The khichadi was dry and cold, no ghee was offered.
I asked for second serving of Khichadi, waited for 15 minutes and still nothing. We decided to leave and when I Was at the counter I mentioned to the cashier “ by the way I was waiting for the food to be served “ and after few seconds she just said ohh I’m sorry.
You are better of cooking at home rather paying $22 per thali and you have to wait for so long not being served. Either they should stop saying it’s unlimited or should start offering better service. Such a waste of...
Read moreI initially posted this review in September 2016. However, for some reason, it never ended showing up on Google. So I will try my luck again.
We went there on 8th September and ordered only a couple of chaat dishes at about 8:15 PM. Our food did not come for about half an hour. Upon enquiring, I was told that it will be served within 2 minutes. After waiting for another 5 minutes, I was again told that the food will be served within 2 minutes. At exactly 8:55 PM (forty minutes after the food was ordered), we decided to leave. And as we were leaving, to our surprise, none of the staff showed any willingness to at least try to stop us. And the cafe wasn't even busy (there were only few tables occupied with hardly anyone coming for takeaways at that time).
The customer service levels in this cafe were never like this! They are far from acceptable and are nothing less than pathetic. It was so embarrassing for me as I had a guest with me visiting for the first time. I have now decided to never go back...
Read moreWe got the Rajwadi Thali tonight. I didn't have the patience to make it through the servings till the thali was full before I began to nibble at it. The food is very good. In the sense that its not drowning in oil and masala, it's not the inauthentic showpiece curry dishes one expects from an Indian restaurant. The curries were all seasoned well with enough spices and chilli (heat) for you to enjoy plenty refills.
I think the restaurant is very clean, they have a cloth table service and we were given a wonderful explanation when we asked the difference between their choices. I appreciate that they are somewhere you can come and eat repeatedly . Not just a one time pony. I think everyone should give them a go, it's genuinely good food. Thankyou for having us tonight. We appreciate your team and the kitchen staff.
There's a lot of 1 star reviews here that don't reflect the quality of this restaurant, I'd encourage people to not listen to the 1 star single review accounts. Very suspicious
Ps- their thepla bread...
